Kentucky Hoopfest: Kenny Kaminski
by Alex Bozich in Video | July 11th, 2010

A trio of Big Ten coaches ? Bo Ryan, Tom Crean and Tom Izzo ? were on hand Sunday at the Kentucky Hoopfest to watch 2012 Medina (OH) forward Kenny Kaminski. The 6-8, 210-pound forward from Indiana Elite Team Indiana talked to Inside the Hall about the first week of the open evaluation period and his upcoming decision on where he?ll attend college:

Kenny Kaminski, Medina (OH), Indiana Elite Team Indiana: Kaminski will announce his decision on July 31 and four schools remain in the mix: Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Speculation has him leaning towards MSU and he admitted in an interview that his preferred destination is beginning to come into focus. Kaminski is an elite shooter with an improving game in the paint. He?s a better athlete than he?s given credit for, but his ball handling and rebounding are two areas he?s working to improve upon. In a meeting with the Birmingham Storm at The Kentucky Hoopfest, it was Kaminski?s leadership that helped pull together IE Team Indiana for a second half rally in front of Tom Izzo, Bo Ryan and Tim Buckley.

Spartan Nation caught up with junior to be Medina, Ohio forward Kenny Kaminski (6?7?, 200#) while he was at a tournament in Las Vegas yesterday. We spoke at length with Kenny to learn a little more about his recruitment and his upcoming announcement on July 31st. Kenny made it clear that there will be no press conference. He and his coach, Jody Peters are going to just let it be known where Kenny has pledged his services. It is a two horse race between MSU and Indiana.

We spoke with Coach Peters as well about Kenny yesterday. ?Kenny has a very high basketball IQ. I?ve been very, very impressed with how he sees the game. He sees the big picture.? Kenny?s game is solid. His shooting ability is what he describes as his best asset. Kenny told us that he needs to get better at attacking the rim. Too often defenders only respect him on the perimeter. When Kenny gets a bit more aggressive around the rim, it will open things up for him on the outside.

At 6?8? Kenny is currently being touted as a small forward at the collegiate level. His coach describes him as another coach on the floor. Coach Peters shared this with us as well. ?We graduated some good guards this past season. Kenny is a guy that feels very, very comfortable with the ball in his hands. We may ask Kenny to run the point or bring the ball up for us.?
