Pace one to watch for 2012

Every year more and more talent comes out of the Glenville football program and one of the next top prospects in the long line is junior defensive lineman Alex Pace. The 6-foot-2, 250-pound prospect has broken into the starting lineup this season and is off to a great start for the 5-0 Tarblooders.

"Right now we're at a pretty good place," said Pace of Glenville's strong start to the season. "We're really just trying to become national champs right now. We just got done with our non-divison games so now we're going back into our divison."

Glenville is ranked in the top 10 in many of the national high school polls and so far the Tarblooders have reeled off some impressive wins against the likes of Warren Central (IN), Dwyer (FL), and Cincinnati Anderson.

For Pace, like most top prospects before him, he's had to wait his turn and so now that he?' received his chance, he's making the most of it.

"This year, being my first year starting, I just worked hard all winter and tried to show the coaches my talent," he said. "I showed them everything that I learned and I worked hard and got better. Now I get to show what I can do on the field and getting to play with other great players like De'von Bogard, Andre Sturdivant, and Antwan Crutcher."

The Glenville program is a must stop for every college coach along the recruiting trail and some schools have already expressed interest in the versatile defensive lineman.

"So far it would be Ohio State, Cincinnati, Toledo, Wisconsin, and Akron," Pace said of the schools that have shown interest.

By Hare...Ohio State, Ohio and Illinois are in contact the most...favors OSU after being at camp earlier this year.
 
Either Strong side DE or DT. I couldnt find photos so not sure if he has the frame to add another 30lbs. I did notice a 3.8gpa. Rivals has him at SSDE 6'2" and 260, scout has him as a DT and 6'3". He could be a Darion Scott type and play both spots. Go Bucks

Alex Pace is a thick 6-foot-3, 284-pound defensive tackle that is quick off the snap and plays with a mean streak. He had four tackles with two stops for loss. Overton said that Pace goes back and forth on which of his many offers he's favoring, and like Bentley, won't focus much on his recruitment this season.

Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville is one of the more well known high school football programs in the Midwest, and with that, they annually churn out BCS level talent. While Boston College does not regularly go into Glenville for talent, defensive lineman Alex Pace has recently caught their attention, and in turn, Pace is also taking a long look at the Eagles.

"Recruiting is real good," said Pace, who is 6-foot-2 and 284-pounds. "A lot more BCS schools are starting to recruit me. Pitt was the last to offer, but I know I have a lot more on the way."

Aside from Pittsburgh, Pace also has offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Syracuse, West Virginia, Air Force and most of the MAC programs. Recent interest has also come in from Boston College, Maryland, Ohio State, South Florida and Hawaii. With BC being relatively new to the party, he was asked about their level of interest.

"They have wanted to offer me, but they just want to talk to my doctor to check up," said Pace. "I messed up my leg at the end of last season, but it's ok now. They've seen me play and everything, so they're just checking."
