'12 FL ATH Alton "Pig" Howard (Tennessee signee)

He's got Teddy Ginn's stride. Just looks like he's gliding out there. If his legs were any longer, he could be as fast as Ginn. His acceleration is something else, too. He's halfway down the field by the time his other WR is 5-10 yards down the field.

Howard's a playmaker. Everytime he gets the ball, it's a first down. Let's get this kid on campus!

Edgewater tandem Karl Joseph, Alton Howard have UCF among top teams
By Chris Hays | Orlando Sentinel
February 18, 2011

Karl Joseph and Alton Howard will be taking an unofficial visit to Miami today, checking out everything in a one-day quick-trip to Coral Gables.

The two Orlando Edgewater stars are good friends. Best friends, actually. But that doesn't mean they see all things on the same level.

For starters, Karl is four inches taller than "Pig." That's what they call Howard, who was "a chubby baby," he says.

Pig's 5-foot-7 height, however, has not deterred college football recruiters. The 5-7, 170-pound wide receiver has 10 offers and currently favors Ohio State over the others (listed alphabetically): Cincinnati, East Carolina, Florida, Miami, Purdue, UCF, UCLA, Utah and Virginia.
"Ohio State is my No. 1 right now, but UCF is up there," Howard said. "My chemistry and connections with UCF ... words can?t even explain. My connection with Coach Kelly and everyone else out there is unbelievable."

Alton "Pig" Howard of Edgewater in Orlando currently says Ohio State is his leader, and Buckeye fans can thank Michael Brewster for that. Brewster, an Edgewater product himself, has talked up OSU to the 5-10/180 receiver, who has UCF, Florida, Cincinnati, Miami, ECU, Purdue, UCLA, and Virginia listed right below the Bucks. Wide receiver is an interesting position for recruitment next year for the Bucks, so it will be interesting to see how the numbers game plays out. I can definitely see Howard staying local at UCF or Florida, but as stated by the player himself, the Buckeyes are currently the team to beat.
