I can see it both ways obviously. Personally, I think Ohio State waited too long to offer Alex and he became set on ensuring his recruitment played out and that he would be able to take some officials. Now that Coach Meyer is here, the priorities have shifted and perhaps (and in my imo unfortunately :() away from Alex.

If that is the case, and Urban decides to go in a different direction, I have to say that it was probably for the best for Alex to have taken his time with recruitment. He can now safely know that wherever he goes he is wanted, and the Ohio State situation seemed to indicate that we were tepid on that front. Too bad, I think he has a lot of potential as a student-athlete and I had hopes for him being a Buckeye. I hope I am wrong. He has an incredible offer list and should not be too disappointed with wherever he ends up.

OL Alex Kozan ready for Auburn visit

Four-star offensive lineman Alex Kozan (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian) will make his fourth official visit this weekend, as he will trek to Auburn on Friday.

Kozan took a trip to Michigan last week and has also visited Iowa and Ohio State. He?s hoping the Auburn trip will have similar memories as the Michigan trip.

?Michigan?s a great place and an outstanding school,? Kozan said. ?I think Brady Hoke is really bringing back the Michigan tradition and what it?s all about. I was there on a huge visit. There were 18 prospects there, so I had a chance to meet a lot of their commits.?

Valor Christian seniors Kozan, McCaffrey invited to play in All-American Bowl (video)

PHOENIX - One hundred of the nations top high school football players were chosen to play in the Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl on January 3, 2012.

Among those invited were Valor Christian Seniors Alex Kozan and Max McCaffrey.

The two teammates will travel to Phoenix, Arizona and will compete at Chase Field in a traditional East versus West matchup.

The Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl is sponsored by JuniorRank Sports and the United States Marine Corps with the goal of:

"Showcasing athletes who embody the USMC values of honor, courage and commitment. The partnership formed focuses on introducing student athletes to the organizations' shared belief that athletic excellence, high academic performance and core character development are key elements to creating well-rounded individuals."

Kozan and McCaffrey were chosen by a selection committee composed of college recruiting experts and scouts from around the country.

Kozan, the 6-foot-four, 295-pound senior, is ranked 30th in the nation among all offensive tackles and is a four-star recruit according to Rivals.com.

The standout tackle is still deciding where to play college football, but has the choice between several top-ranked programs including; Auburn, Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State and Oklahoma.

Update from the guys at The Silver Bullets-

As for Kozan, he clearly is going to be a guard at the next level. Many have argued that the Buckeyes wanted him as a tackle, but after watching him today I don't believe that is a possibility at all. In fact, I think the previous Ohio State staff viewed him as a guard and that's why they slow played him in the recruiting process.

During practice, he lined up exclusively at both guard positions and showed some weaknesses in his footwork. He also received coaching on his technique a lot during the lineman drills. Kozan is a hard worker and a leader though, and seem to be the most vocal lineman of the lot during practice. Still, he just doesn't seem athletic or fluid enough to play for Meyer, which is possibly the reason he hasn't been in contact with the new staff.

Denver Post - Valor Christian's Alex Kozan, Windsor's Joey O'Connor still uncommitted

With a banner class of in-state football players, it should be of little surprise that there still are some very sought after recruits on the board.

The top two remaining uncommitted targets both play in the trenches and helped guide their team to state championships in December.

Valor Christian offensive lineman Alex Kozan has four official visits under his belt, traveling to Auburn, Iowa, Ohio State, and Michigan. He is still considering his options in terms of a fifth official trip.

The second athlete, Windsor offensive lineman Joey O'Connor, had previously been committed to Penn State but he chose to reopen things after the scandal there. Ohio State appears to be one of the top programs on his radar but don't be surprised if new Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien tries to get back in on O'Connor.

Free Rivals - Sooners Back in Colorado?

"It's kind of brand new - really early in the process I talked to them a little bit but not very much. The other day I got a message from coach (Bruce) Kittle, who asked if I'd be interested in talking to him about Oklahoma," Kozan said.

"I told him I'd love to talk to him about Oklahoma, I kind of have my list narrowed but a school like Oklahoma, I'm very open to hearing about it.

"They offered me and they are looking at me as a tackle. Now, I'm trying to learn as much as I can about them."

ESPN - Sooners strike out on linemen in Colorado

Oklahoma is in pursuit of at least one more offensive lineman for the class of 2012, but the answer won?t come in Colorado.

The Sooners took a late run at two of the state?s top prospects in Colorado, but are not being considered by either offensive tackle Joey O?Connor (Windsor, Colo./Windsor) or Alex Kozan (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian).

O?Connor, 6-foot-4 and 295 pounds, said Monday he will be choosing between Iowa, California and Ohio State. O?Connor, ranked No. 1 in Colorado and No. 105 in the ESPNU 150, de-committed from Penn State in November.

OL Alex Kozan down to three

Four-star offensive lineman Alex Kozan (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian) on Sunday said he is nearing a decision and hopes to know his college future by the end of the week.

Kozan, who has more than 20 offers, said he has cut his list to Michigan, Iowa and Auburn. He has in-home visits set for this week. Iowa and Michigan will be in town Monday. Washington, a darkhorse in the running, will be in town Tuesday. Kozan will host Auburn on Wednesday.

?I?m kind of going on a feeling,? Kozan said. ?I know all the facts on them, and they are all pretty equal in my mind.?

Hoke and company must really think they have a depth problem on the OL (read no talent in the sophomore and freshman classes). They have Braden, Williams, Magnuson and Bars at OT. They have Stacey and Kalis (Tweener?) at OG. And they are still looking to bring in one more guard in Grarrett, Diamond or Kozan.

I think it's clear what Joke's intent is: Be a smash mouth football team. What Rich Rod did with slot dots, Joke is doing with OL. We're stockpiling quite the DL as well, so it should be fun to see those battles going forward, with OSU triumphing of course.

RichRod killed our OL depth by not recruiting it for a few years, and when he did, he wasn't very good at it.

Like sflbuck pointed out, the depth is pretty scary, and adding top talent there can only help.

Oh, and Kozan's announcement date is after Josh Garnett, who could easily pick Michigan. Not sure about Diamond's date.
