I would have welcomed the verbal and let him know that if were to take offcials to other schools down the road that would be fine.

If OSU wants a TE in this class (and it seems like they do with McNamara and Kent Taylor being visitors last year and a reported offer to FL TE Laith Harlow) McNamara should have been the guy...but I digress...
At tight end Taylor McNamara backed up all of the buzz around his recruitment. The slender but strong athlete runs well upfield and caught the ball with ease. He?s not overpowering from a size perspective but his blend of size and athleticism make him a tough matchup in the pass game.
PREP FOOTBALL: Report: Westview's McNamara reconsiders commitment to Arizona

Even before Arizona fired coach Bob Stoops on Monday night, Westview High tight end Taylor McNamara was already reconsidering his June commitment to the Wildcats.
That's what happens when a team starts 1-5 and loses 10 consecutive games against Football Bowl Subdivision opponents. So when Stoops got the ax, McNamara wasn't exactly bowled over.
"I wasn't really surprised, but I did think they would wait until after the season," he told ESPN.com recruiting analyst Greg Biggins. "The team was struggling, and you could kind of see the writing on the wall. That's why I decided to set up some visits."
McNamara was scheduled to visit Colorado on Oct. 1 for its game against Washington State, but canceled the trip after contracting the flu. Still on the docket are official visits to Cal for a game against Oregon State on Nov. 12 and Notre Dame for a matchup with Boston College on Nov. 19.
"I'm glad I scheduled visits already because I feel like I'm a little ahead of the game and not starting from scratch," McNamara told ESPN.com. "I'm definitely still interested in Arizona and will give them a hard look when they hire a new coach.
"... It's still a rough situation, and I feel really bad for Coach Stoops."
McNamara is considered one of the best high school tight ends in the nation. He's ranked No. 2 at the position, and 90th overall, by Rivals.com. The 6-foot-5, 235-pounder has scholarship offers from such schools as USC, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State.
