I think people tend to forget that these are 17 and 18 year Old kids and not grown men. Regardless of how you look at it, the decision of where to go to school is a major life event and not everyone handles it the same way and we should respect that.

Well said. Let's get back to discussing Neal's recruitment in accordance with BP's rules.

I look at recruiting like those relationships that break up, get back together again and break up again, etc. Whenever that happens, the relationship is just a stepping stone with no future in it. These kids are looking for something thats going to keep them in it forever and then someone else comes along that looks prettier or puts out easier so they get more attention. Then they find out on the inside that that one was just like the one they had except the one they had was more familiar. Round an round we go. I'm near 40 now and know exactly what I want but still can't pull the trigger all of the time on whats best for me. These guys are only 18 or so and everyone is telling them how they should decide on the rest of their lives already. Its confusing. Let it play out and hope for the best.

Davonte Neal steps right into this offense and special teams and elevates our production. Period. If he can see himself doing that he'll be a Buckeye. If its cloudy to him or there are other things he needs from college, maybe he stays home. Arizona in the winter is unbelievable, thats why I moved here 6 years ago. Its hard to look at Columbus at its worst, arguably, and see past it to the magnificent fall afternoons sometimes. Hopefully the Neal family will be a part of that. If not, I wish Davonte well and will root for the guys in Scarlet and Gray.

One quick comment. The winters are very nice in AZ but the summers in Phoenix are incredibly hot. My son moved from Columbus to Phoenix 5 years ago and we visit every year. But I will always love the falls here in Ohio (football season). Just saying two sides of the coin on the weather bit.

for some kids yes weather is a factor...i remember last year when Shazier visited it was probably 3 degrees out and snowing...every LSU fan following his recruitment said he was complaining of how cold and miserable the weather was here and we all know how that turned out...so obviously if Ohio State is still in the running, weather must not be a huge factor

Yes I know. I live here, as do the Neals.

I spent a month in Ohio last summer and it was 100 with 90% humidity. I don't count summer weather much because most kids arent in school and its usually hot everywhere. There are only some places where winter is pleasant usually so its more of an issue.

Shouldnt matter for Davonte but you never know.

Weather is an overrate argument in recruiting.

Kids nowadays are thinking it is worth three years of crappy OSU weather for a chance to play pro ball in Miami, San Francisco, etc. and make millions of dollars.

I played in the snow every year I lived in Arizona.

At the same time, you could use it to your advantage.

Look who's playing in the Super Bowl this year. Add the Conference championships and you have 3 of 4 teams playing in wintry weather.

My picks on where undecideds will go

Five football players will announce their college intentions on Wednesday. Two of them, I expect, will reverse field from their previous commitments.

Here are my picks on the top uncommitted Arizona players still out there and where I think they will end up:

Davonte' Neal, Scottsdale Chaparral, WR/DB: Notre Dame. I keep going back and forth between the Fighting Irish and Ohio State. I do know Neal won't sign on Wednesday. He still wants to check out Oklahoma and Arizona. Everything seemed to be lining up towards Arizona a couple of weeks ago when his dad said his son would take his last recruiting trip there Feb.10. But that was before Oklahoma came in hard. Academics and life after football are important to Neal. Nobody else in Neal's wish list comes close to Notre Dame's graduation success rate. But Ohio State coach Urban Meyer might be the best closer in college recruiting, and that could be tough to beat, especially after Meyer's impressive in-home visit.
