Oak Hills junior LB Ben Russell (6-2, 215) will take an unofficial visit to Ohio State on Saturday, according to Oak Hills coach Kurry Commins.

?They called on Tuesday and he will meet with (coach Jim) Tressel,? Commins said Thursday.

Russell has scholarship offers from Akron and Ball State.

A team that?s still his top choice and for good reason. ?My grandpa is Bob Weadick. He played for Woody Hayes until his sophomore year. He?s been an Ohio State Buckeye fan since then and he loves them. He has season tickets every year. They?ve been my favorite since I was kid living in Columbus. Westerville actually (suburb, northeast side). I lived there from 1st to 6th grade and I loved it. I was a huge James Laurinaitis fan too. He?s the reason I wear #33,? explained Russell.

So you can imagine his reaction when his high school coach let Russell know that OSU had called and invited him to attend their bi-annual jersey scrimmage on April 17th. ?They talked to my coach (Kerry Commins) and said they really like my film. They want me to come up for the jersey game and meet the position coach, meet Jim Tressel. I was just floored really. I thought they were just joking with me at first. It?s pretty nuts,? recounted Russell.
