'11 NJ RB Savon Huggins (Rutgers Signee)

He runs hard and at people in that video, with being a little on the small size the Big Ten would be a challenge for him. Does appear to have exceptional vision and a great natural feel for running the ball, just a bit small currently.

Be a nice pick up!

Yea wow...Best running back in at least 2 years, imo. He would be the perfect running back here...but it probably won't happen with the depth chart we have right now.

Do u mean the best RB ins New Jersey in 2yrs? You don't really mean in the nation do u? There are at least 5-10 that were better, at least. Huggins isn't quite that good(he wouldn't be at the top of all the RBs in TX). I'd still rather have Roderick Smith to be honest.

Not trying to knock this kid at all, just don't think he's the best we've seen in years.

This could all be a moot point if he isn't even interested in Ohio State, but the question really is if the staff thinks he is better than Warren Ball, Brionte Dunn or any other RB in the 2012 class in state or out of state. It sounds like Warren Ball is #1 in 2012, and we most likely take 2, but we could just as easily take 1 this year and 1 next year. Especially this year, where we've got anywhere from 20-23 open, it will be much easier to squeeze in an RB than it will be next year, where we currently sit at 13 open Scholarships.

Regardless of next year, this guy is elite. I used to be in the RB group at OSU camp every year and they would show us video of what they look for in RB's...Huggins is it. He is a decisive runner with great speed throw the seams, but he also regains speed off cuts so fast that he can get away with some shake and bake at the next level. Extremely confident runner with great awareness...reminds me a bit of Lache Seastrunk. In terms of making in-roads to New Jersey...try turning it Republican while your at it.

Dude is better than Seastrunk. Seastrunk is a lot faster but I really didn't see any evidence of him being able to run between the tackles. Everything Seastrunk got was on the edge. But this kid is GREAT at running between the tackles and cutting, and just subtle movements that help him bounce off guys. He runs so hard and can make you miss. He can run between the tackles with great vision. He's got the speed to breakaway. Better speed than both Lattimore and Dyer. I don't know, I just really like this kid. I think he's the best running back I've seen in 2 years. I like him better than Seastrunk, Dyer, and Lattimore. My opinion only. But we will find out in the future.

Some of this post was more directed towards pnuts.

And honestly, I think that Rod Smith has the potential to be better than Seastrunk, Dyer, and Lattimore too. He moves, cuts, and runs like a little guy, but he's huge. College weight program and he can be unstoppable.

Let's not worry about next year's class. If you have a special talent in the current class and you can get him, you take him. Warren Ball Jr. looks great, I know a lot of people like Dunn (although I'm not in love with him), but Huggins is certainly in that class of back. If you can get him, you don't pass because of talent in future classes.

Oh than that this convo changes a lot now. I don't see this kid getting an offer, unless he's also a star at another position, like James Wilder. From what we've seen from the staff's recruiting practices in the past, if they already have a position that doesn't need immediate help, they're not recruiting there. I don't think the staff recruits with urgency at all positions on a yearly basis. As one can see this year, we have put a premium on OL, and we didn't really last year. I know some people will say we were in it until the end with a number of OOS top ranked kids, but we didn't even attempt to go after kids in OH that expressed(almost begged) high interest in an offer. But yet we're offering a lot more of those types of in state kids this year. I don't think Donnal and Schoffner would be much of a difference between Underwood and Carter.

Sorry to get so off topic, my main point is that our staff more than likley isn't going after RBs, seeing as that we're only losing 1 after this season is over.

I agree with this 100%...about both taking the players you can get now and about Dunn...

"No, they haven't offered. They're showing a lot of interest and sending a lot of mail though. Word is they're going to offer but he does not have an offer from Ohio State yet," answered his dad.

Mr. Huggins didn't mince his words any when giving an opinion on how the interview in question was handled either, "He explained to the guy before they hung up that he made a mistake, that he did not have the offer, but that they are thinking of offering him.
