NEW YORK ? Desmond Hubert is a long way from cutting his list of schools, but he says two should make his top five.

??Nova and Pitt,? the 6-foot-9, 205-pound Hubert said Friday night at the Rumble in the Bronx at Fordham. ?Great programs, I like the head coaches.?

As for Villanova, Hubert said he liked head coach Jay Wright and the whole program.
?Jay Wright, he?s just a cool dude,? he said.

?I talk to him a lot. He?s a real cool guy to sit down and just talk with. I really like the way he coaches and the way he carries himself. He?s one of my favorite coaches.?

Hubert played AAU ball with Villanova sophomore Dominic Cheek and also knows sophomore guard Maalik Wayns.

As for Pitt, Hubert said Panthers head coach Jamie Dixon ?is a great guy.?

?I can sit down and talk with him. He makes me feel real comfortable when I talk to him. That?s a big plus for me. And then just they had a lot of good bigs lately [Sam Young, DeJuan Blair, Tyrell Biggs].?

The No. 7 center in the Class of 2011, Hubert, a rising senior at New Egypt (N.J.) High School said he also holds offers from UConn, Maryland, Wake Forest, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Rutgers and Seton Hall.

?I?m still pretty much wide open right now,? Hubert said. ?Hopefully, after the live period I?ll be able to make my list.?

HUBERT NARROWING LIST

Desmond Hubert, Randall?s 6-9 Playaz teammate, is also narrowing his list.

Hubert listed Pittsburgh, Villanova, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Georgia Tech and Maryland.

?I?m starting to come to more of a decision on what schools are going to be on my list and what schools aren?t going to be,? Hubert said.

Still, as first reported by ZAGSBLOG, Pitt and Villanova are at the top.

?I feel really comfortable with those two schools, with the coaching staff, especially at Pitt and Villanova,? Hubert said.

Hubert and Playaz teammate Myles Davis may also choose a school together. Both have interest in Davis as well.

?Me and him have also talked about going to school together and those are two of the schools that are recruiting us,? Hubert said.

While Randall may decide in August, Hubert plans to take his visits first.

?I?m going to wait a little bit longer probably because I definitely want to take my official visits,? he said.

Summer has been busy for New Egypt cagers
BY WAYNE WITKOWSKI
Correspondent
Desmond Hubert has been living out of a suitcase for most of this summer, and Mark Przybylkowski has been racing a time clock.

But both New Egypt High School basketball teammates managed to slow down their whirlwind summer schedules enough to combine forces with the rest of the Warriors for the Prime Time Summer Shootout that was held over the weekend of Aug. 7-8 at nearby Allentown High School.

The Warriors also played in the summer league at Allentown, going 8-2 and losing in the playoff semifinals to the Hun School by two points.

At the Prime Time Summer Shootout, the Warriors were ready to please and entertain the fans and dozens of college recruiters who came to scout top hoop prospects.

?July was kind of disappointing; it has been up and down,? said Hubert, a 6-9 rising senior who has traveled with his AAU team, the Playaz of northern New Jersey, to showcases in Washington, D.C., Las Vegas, Arizona, Ohio and, most notably, the prestigious Peach Jam in Georgia and an NBAstyle camp at the University of Virginia.

?In July, I hadn?t really been home at all, going to camps and showcases. It definitely wears on you, and anybody who says it doesn?t is lying. It?s a lot of basketball in a short amount of time. You get a little tired, but you get used to it,? Hubert said.

But Hubert has been home of late before deciding later this month on his college visits and going back to the airports.

?That?s all right. It?s a different kind of thing. I don?t mind that,? he said.

Pittsburgh, Virginia, Wake Forest and Maryland are at or near the top of Hubert?s college list, said his high school coach, Jay Corby.

Desmond Hubert Looking at 5 Schools

By Alex Kline

Desmond Hubert, a 6-foot-10 combo forward out of New Egypt High School in New Jersey is starting to make plans in his recruitment. The athletic senior was looking at seven schools over the last few months. Hubert is now looking at five with a few others getting involved.

“Right now, I’m kind of down to five schools,” he said. “Wake Forest, Princeton, Villanova, Georgia Tech and Maryland are the schools.” While Ohio State and Virginia were on Hubert’s list before, they have fallen out of the equation. Ohio State stopped recruiting the Garden State native after adding commitments from forwards, LaQuinton Ross and Sam Thompson. As for Virginia, “they haven’t called me in a while.”

I really don't understand this because these two guys don't even play same position as Hubert . TM must be pretty sure of someone perhaps Williams or maybe the guy with the Sunday name.

I'm thinking tOSU may view Hubert as a Wing at 6'9" 205.

don't see much difference between Hubert and
Brunswick senior Pay Forsythe. The 6-foot-10, 210-pound senior, who just turned 17
except for the fact that Hubert is probably much more advanced. So unless we miss out on some more guys I can see us recruiting Forsythe.
