FYI - that article is no longer free.

I'm sure these guys are pretty familiar with the local schools but it's still encouraging to hear that they came down to see OSU on the 1st day.

Southeastern hoops star Percy Gibson commits to Iowa State
Tom Markowski/ The Detroit News

Detroit Southeastern basketball star Percy Gibson committed to Iowa State on Saturday.

The 6-foot-9, 245-pound power forward chose Iowa State over Indiana, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech and Dayton. Gibson said he received scholarship offers from all of these schools.

Gibson signed with Dayton in November but was released from his letter-of-intent after then coach Brian Gregory left to take the top job at Georgia Tech.

"It was the coaching staff and playing style," Gibson said of his reasons to sign with Iowa State. "It's a lot of freedom. They like to use the shot clock. Once they run their offense, and run the break, they like to go to their big men."
