Awesome, this kid is big time and I'm glad to see the offer. Do you think there is any chance of him playing DT? With Hayes and Miller, plus possibly DE/DT Chris Rock, I'm curious to see how it all would play out. Imo you take all 4 though if you can...what a group if you pull it off.

if you like lamar woodley, that's who he is. He's not 6 4 more like 6 2 6 1 1/2.

That is not the case. Rich never coached a kid from Ren at WVU as far as I know.

The coach did however publicly say that Rodriguez did two of his former players who went to Michigan wrong, Carson Butler and Andre Criswell, and he said that it hurt his heart and blah blah blah and a bunch of crap.

Rich did inherit the pair of former Ren grads in Carson Butler (TE) and Andre Criswell (FB/DE) from Lloyd Carr however.

Butler was an immensely talented athlete, but he had a two cent head. Butler was pretty much awlays in trouble on and off the field. Lloyd even kicked him off the team at one point only to allow him to earn his way back on the team after some assault charges that were pending against him got dropped.

Rich started Butler at TE at the start of the year, but a bunch of false starts, dropped passes, and an on-field fight in which Carson punched a player from Notre Dame in the face lead to Butler getting suspended and then moved from TE to DE. Butler didn't like the switch so he declared for the NFL. Carson Butler has nobody to blame but himself for his failures at Michigan, and quite frankly I think that Carr did the wrong thing in letting him come back.

Andre Criswell was a program player who was literally offered a scholarship to Michigan on NSD because Carr had an extra spot in the class and he never really did anything of note at Michigan and played sparringly in garbage time in 4 years. Criswell graduated from Michigan with a degree and is getting in the coaching profession and he now works for Rodriguez as a G/A.

I think the coach from Ren really needs to keep his mouth shut and he also needs a reality check, because Butler wronged only himself, and Criswell got himself a degree and Rodriguez has given him a job and has allowed him to potentially pursue a career in coaching and there is no shame in that whatsoever.

It has nothing to do with Butler, it has to do with a kid from Det Ren that went to West Virginia, lastname Knight first name escapes me. Felt that RR did him wrong.

ILB Lawrence Thomas
Detroit, MI
Renaissance H.S.

Class of 2011 ESPNU 150 Watch List linebacker Lawrence Thomas (Detroit/Renaissance) updated ESPN affiliate Web site SpartanTailgate.com with his new scholarship offers.

"Right now I don't know how many offers I have, but I can name at least 12 or 13," Thomas said. "Ohio State, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, those are some of my more recent ones. Ohio State offered on Monday."

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Thomas also has offers from Michigan State, Michigan, Alabama, UCLA, Wisconsin, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and Colorado, among others.

His current teammate, three-star cornerback Mylan Hicks, is committed to the in-state Spartans. Two former teammates, Chris Norman and Dana Dixon, signed with Michigan State in 2009.

In seven games as a junior, Thomas registered 89 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and two interceptions. During his sophomore season, he posted 77 tackles and five sacks while playing both linebacker and tight end.

Just watched Thomas' film and he is a five star if I've ever seen one. Thomas is just a freak of an athlete...changes direction with ease, has an obvious physical advantage, long arms allow him to track the ball carrier down if his great closing speed doesn't and he is simply a human missile. Thomas would be an ideal LEO prospect.
