Kentucky HoopFest - day one
I took in a bunch of games at the Kentucky HoopFest on the opening day.
Not a great day of matchups - will be better tomorrow - but still some good teams and a lot of coaches in the house to watch the prospects.
Event continues through Sunday at KFEC, Hoops and Basketball Academy.
?Best performance of the day that I saw was from Bloomington South's Spencer Turner (photo), who had eight three-pointers and scored 28 points as Indiana Elite One rolled in its opening game of the event. Turner said he is hearing most from Wisconsin, Ohio State and Michigan and noted his "relationship with Indiana is growing." Indiana University commitment Matt Carlino also had a solid showing in the game with some nifty passing.
?Among the college coaches in attendance was Indiana's Tom Crean and Tim Buckley, Michigan State's Tom Izzo, Xavier's Chris Mack and Butler's Brad Stevens. Some of the top assistant coaches I saw were from Ohio State, Iowa, Illinois, UNLV, Purdue, Xavier and Colorado.
