AJC: Tucker?s Vaughters cleared to play, heading to USC-Ohio State

Tucker linebacker James Vaughters, a Class of 2011 prospect who earns a 5-star rating in Rivals.com's early rankings, is actually going to be in Columbus, Ohio, for the Southern Cal-Ohio State game. But don't worry Dogs and Jackets fans, he plans to get around to you guys, too.

cont...

Interesting... I don't think Rivals has given star ratings to 2011 prospects yet. His profile has a 5-star rating where people get to vote on it, maybe that's where the author of the article got it from ha..

Scout $: One of 2011's Best Coming to The Swamp

Lengthy by comparison to most recruiting articles, this one includes quotes from James as well as both parents. All seem like high quality people looking for the best options possible for James. They are impressed by the Gator staff and environment as well as the in state BCS schools.

The most interesting quote for Buckeye fans is when Mr. Vaughters indicates one plus for Coach Meyer is that they have being native Ohioans in common. He goes on to say that may indicate they share a similar set of family values.

Consider me as very impressed by the Vaughters' and very hopeful that Ohio State ends up being the best fit for James.

From the UGA site...visited UGA last weekend and says he enjoys it every time...says he was impressed with UGA's gameday atmosphere and operations...plans to narrow things down soon using criteria including winning football tradition, academic reputation, fan and alumni support.

James, his father, and a couple of his teammates visited UF for the Arkansas game. They spent some time with the Gator coaches and were told how important they consider signing Vaughters. They were impressed with the family atmosphere at Florida.

Arguably the top player in the state of Georgia for the class of 2011 is linebacker James Vaughters. He is a 6-3 and 220-pound superstar from Tucker (GA) High School. Currently, Vaughters holds offers from Florida, Georgia, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma State and many more.

His Dad is handling interviews. Some of the schools he'd like his son to consider (Dads reason) include: UNC (alum), Ohio State (a childhood fave), the BCS Georgia schools (proximity), Stanford (academics, directors cup tradition), and USC (top notch program). Vaughters has 17 offers and is a 4.0 student.

Talked to a guy who use to work for Scout and now works for another recruiting service about James. He said OSU and USC are very high on his list and he could definitely see him leaving state. Those two schools with GT and UGA make up his top 4 for now.

Hicks and Vaughters and Bell is enough to make me salivate.

Tech-Georgia recruits react to Dogs? victory
November 30, 2009, by Chip Towers

Depending on which side of the rivalry one sits, there has been a lot of horn-tooting and rationalizing going on since the Georgia-Georgia Tech ended Saturday night. That?s only natural after a rivalry game nicknamed ?Clean Old Fashioned Hate.? But the perspective is decidedly different for prospects being recruited by both schools.

Tucker linebacker James Vaughters and Kell safety Brian Randolph fall into that category. Both are high school juniors and coveted recruits for the class of 2011 and both have Tech and Georgia atop their lists.

Vaughters liked what he saw on both sides of the field Saturday night.

?I still consider both Georgia and Georgia Tech to both be great options, although they are very different,? he said. ?What I like is that both coaching staffs have great coaches that seem to care about the players and building character, as well as making sure we succeed academically. It also helps that both programs do a great job of getting players . . . ready to play at the next level.?

But neither player is anywhere close to making up his mind, Saturday?s results notwithstanding.

?It?s too early to tell where the best opportunity for me to fit in depth chart-wise will be,? Vaughters said. ?That will be a determining factor, as well, when it is time to make a commitment.?
