Inside the Huddle: Saint Thomas Aquinas
by Charles Fishbein | December 20th, 2009 @ 1:02 pm
Over the past two seasons Saint Thomas Aquinas has been one of the top teams in Florida. This past weekend Saint Thomas had that all come crashing down on them as they lost to Manatee High. This was pretty much a shock to everyone that covers high school football in Florida. While they lost most expect them to bounce back next year and be one of the elite teams once again in Broward County. ESS takes an inside look at their top prospects from the class of 2010 and 2011.

Dorsett Lands Offer
January 3, 2010 by Luke Stampini
St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Phillip Dorsett proved to be one of the more exciting players in the 2011 class this past season. It seemed Dorsett, who measured in at 5-foot-10, 165-pounds at Friday's Under Armour combine, was good for at least one astonishing play per game. One school has decided to come through with offer to the talented receiver, the Ohio State Buckeyes.
"I like them," said Dorsett on the Buckeyes. "They're a little far away, but I don't think location is going to be an issue." Dorsett says that he stays in contact regularly with the Buckeye staff, in particular the wide receivers coach. "I speak to Coach (Darrell) Hazell at OSU often," said Dorsett.

Talks about receiving the Notre Dame & Florida offers... The pitch from the ND coaches is he can get an education comparable to Harvard & have the tradition of ND football... His teammate, Rashad Greene, also has a ND offer... They'll both be attending a junior day at FSU this weekend... No leader, no time table...

Florida Gators offer Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas WR Phillip Dorsett
By Chris Hays | Orlando Sentinel
3:52 p.m. EST, February 17, 2010
Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas WR Phillip Dorsett can add Florida to his list of suitors as the Gators have extended an offer to the 5-foot-10, 175-pounder.
Dorsett, the No. 29-ranked player in the Sentinel's Florida Top 100 by Bill Buchalter, is the ninth wide receiver to be offered by the Gators for the 2011 recruiting class, and the second receiver from St. Thomas Aquinas. The other is Rashad Greene (6-0, 160), the No. 36-ranked prospect in the Florida Top 100.
It would be unlikely the Gators would actually take a pair of receivers from the same high school, but then again, why not? If they are both good enough to get offers they must both be good enough to sign. UF will have another St. Thomas Aquinas receiver on next year's roster. Robert Clark was part of the Gators 2010 recruiting class.

Comparable to Harvard? Perhaps ...cjs100;1662125; said:... The pitch from the ND coaches is he can get an education comparable to Harvard & have the tradition of ND football...
Wide receiver Phillip Dorsett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./ Saint Thomas Aquinas) is one of several top 2011 prospects on the Raiders roster. He took part in the combine and performed well displaying excellent straight-line speed with 4.43 40, as well as good athleticism and explosiveness with a 6.94 three-cone drill time and a 36.5 vertical.
DAVIE, Fla. -- An outstanding group of wide receivers highlighted the offensive prospects during Sunday's Under Armour combine at the Miami Dolphins Training Facility.
ESPNU 150 Watch List prospects Tacoi Sumler (Miami/Columbus) and Phillip Dorsett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Saint Thomas Aquinas) both showed off their explosiveness and were the top Class of 2011 prospects at the position.
Meanwhile, this is the second straight year Dorsett has impressed at this particular event. Last year, he impressed with a big showing during the position drill and one-on-one portion of the event, but was not satisfied with his testing numbers. This year, the numbers were impressive for the 5-10, 170-pounder. He posted a 40 time of 4.41, a 4.35 shuttle and a 6.94 L-cone.
"Last year, I was kind of hurt," he said. "This year, I am healthy and I've been running track, so I guess I got faster. There was great talent out here. There are a lot of kids that are going Division I, so it was amazing to play with all of these top receivers."
Ohio State, Florida, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Tennessee all have offered Dorsett. He grew up a Miami fan and believes the Canes may be close to offering him as well.

Phillip Dorsett was much happier with his performance this year at the UA Miami combine.
