'10 VA PF Joshua Hairston (Duke Verbal)

Really like the fact that he is in constant contact with Sullinger...Another visit over the summer should let us know where he is at in terms of interest, but I would still go ahead and offer and Payne...Take the first one to commit and if they both want to come, well then take both of them...

The one thing with Hairston that concerns me is that if Duke offers, they would instantly jump to near the top of his list. With that said, he's apparently been to Georgetown a ton, and has been to Ohio State more than a few times, so Duke could have a lot of ground to make up.

I agree with offering Payne though.

You do know that there is the limit on the number of scholarship players that can be on one team:biggrin:

The kid has sincere interest but in the end, I would expect him to stay closer to home.....offer Payne now.
If OSU is in this kid's top 2-3 and he has genuine interest, not to mention being one of the top players in the country, why is his thread in the general recruiting forum? I'd much rather see updates on this kid when I check the b-ball recruiting than say Jamil Wilson, which doesn't have any interest in OSU.

Hairston Takes On Best; Sets Up Visit.............Hairston played well at the NBA Top 100 camp this past weekend. Hairston is receiving calls from Maryland, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgetown, Ohio State, Kansas, Clemson, Notre Dame and Miami. Hairston has taken unofficial visits to Ohio State, Virginia and Virginia Tech and will take a visit to Duke this week with Kenny Boynton.

Here is my opinion on this...Think Litlbuck will like this one...

Hairston is looking more and more like a 1 or maybe 2 year player...If there is no rule in place, then we continue with the one and dones with Hairston and Thomas, and maybe sullinger in the 2010 class...

If we were to offer Payne, and try and pull both of them in, then we have some stability, or if we were to pass on Hairston because of being a one and done type and just take Payne who has about as much game as Hairston, not as much in terms of stepping out and playing off the dribble, but he can play both the PF/C positions which would help us more IMO, instead of a 3/4 guy like thomas is...

Now if you have a shot at Hairston you take it, but I would honestly have Payne higher on the board, just because he is going to be here longer and project more in the PF/C role...

You are correct. If Hairston is indeed a one and done which I assume he is going to be, I would rather have Payne who might not be as good of a player but might be here for at least three years. I do not want to see three one and done players in the same class again and 2010 has that potential with Thomas, Sullinger, and Hairston.

I also forgot about my APR worries with one and done players. If we take too many one and done players within the next couple years, one is going to come back and bite us. I also like the continuity of non one and done players.
