His counterpart, Mooney junior Alex Zordich, showed off his strong arm but looked tentative at times. Running backs Ray Vinopal and, especially, Braylon Heard showed flashes of their potential, but it will take a few games before things come together.

Heard finished with 118 yards on 10 carries and Vinopal added 77 on 21 for the Cardinals (0-1), who have played in four straight Division IV state finals, winning two.

Michigan safety recruit Ray Vinopal 'will earn everybody's respect'

Ray Vinopal grew up an Ohio State fan.

He had Buckeye hats and hoodies and a sweet Nike pullover that said "Ohio State Footbal." A few weeks ago - sometime after he committed to the Michigan football team - he sold it all, his whole OSU wardrobe, to a friend and former teammate at Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney.

?I made some money,? Vinopal said. ?I had some good stuff, so he took it off my hands.?

His closet now re-stocked with Michigan gear, Vinopal is ready to begin the next phase of his football career decked out in new favorite colors.

It seems like every single recruit they get goes on about how he was slighted by OSU, is gonna prove 'em wrong, etc.

I really think this one will. White DBs just don't get must respect to begin with, let alone short (5-11) white DBs who play on awesome teams, where everyone is spiting time and starters are out by the 4th quarter. Barring injuries he will be all Big-Ten before he graduates, mark my words.

...f.y.i. Tressel did come in to speak with him earlier in the month, asked if he wanted to visit, he said no b/c they hadn't talk to him all season and he wasn't interested in leaving UM.
