Dayton (OH) Jefferson

Ht: 6-foot-8
Wt: 210 lbs
AAU: All-Ohio Red

Considered a top prospect in Ohio for the 2010 class. Listing Cincy (offer), Dayton (offer), Xavier (offer), Indiana, Ohio State and West Virginia.

12/23/07 Rivals.com update

Payne scored 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a win. Coaches from Ohio State and Xavier were in attendance.

Watch out for the Flyers here... Chris Wright made a big statement to all Dayton area players by staying home... There's a big-time buzz amongst the players about it...

Adreian is the real deal coincidentally... He and Juwan Staten ('10 PG from Thurgood Marshall) should both be top 100 players by the time their Sr.'s... Payne could be top 40...

Hearing that Payne and '10 PG Juwan Staten are likely going to go to school together for college (both have offers from Dayton, Xavier, and Cincy in common), and now potentially high school... There's a lot of talk that both will transfer to Trotwood-Madison for next year...

Channel 7 here in Dayton did a piece on Adreian last night... He listed Dayton, tOSU, West Virginia, and Xavier as his top 4. He said he wants to stay close to home so his grandma can see him play...

Don't know if we would have room for both guys, but I would be all for taking both of them if we had room...

With Golden already committed at PG, I would think tOSU doesn't take another for '10...
Dayton really has the best situation for both of them to come in and play right away...

My thinking behind taking both of them is that Golden could be a combo guard if needed...From what I have saw of him he could easily be a one and done type player...

Noopy will be a junior...So that leaves us with Noopy and Golden for 10' and then the year after we are just looking at Noopy as a senior and a freshmen backup if we brining on in in the 11' class, and what is to say that Noopy doesn't improve and leave after say his junior year...

I understand that taking 6 in 10' might be a stretch in terms of taking that many, but with the chance of Thomas and Golden being one and done types, there is no reason we couldn't take some guys to get a year under their belt...

I think PF and PG are the two positions that we could fill those needs with...This could all depend on what we do in 09' as well...

We already have 10 scholarship players for 2010-2011 and that does not count any scholarships given for the 09-10 class. I don't think we would have room to take two guys and I'm not sure if Matta would take a "package" unless they are Greg/Mike players.

Well I did say if we have room...

Right now for 10' we have...

1. Diebler Sr.
2. Turner Sr.
3. Lauderdale Sr.
4. Wallace Sr.
5. KK(gone by then for sure)
6. Mullens(Gone)
7. Buford(Gone)
8. Offut Jr.
9. Crater Jr.
10. 09' big (Could it be a one and done guy?)
11. 09' big/wing (Could it be a one and done guy?)
12. Sullinger
13. Wright
14. Thomas
15. Golden

So by my count there is the opportunity to have 15 guys and to add two guys Payne and Staten that would put us at 17 which is 4 over...

WIth KK, Mullens, Buford gone that puts us at 14...Does Wallace stay all 4 years or does his pt pick up...Does Turner, Crater, Offut improve enough to not stay for their 4th or 3rd year...Do one of the 09 guys we bring in leave early...Or do we only get one in that class...

Lots of opportunities to get to that number and be able to bring in 6 in that class...

I am obviously not saying to take one just to get the other, but I am just saying in a way that I would have no problem with pulling in a pg and PF to go along with the guys we already have in that class...And I think Payne and Staten are two guys to really take a look at, not because they have said they want to play together...I would also think that Po Howard could still be getting a long look as well for another pg...

You're kidding me aren't you? You're not the same person who predicted Lighty was going to leave after his sophomore year.

Oh, the projected breakdown by class is two posts above this one. It was done by OBJ.

Not sure what is wrong with the post...I am just pointing out that these guys have NBA ability and if they put it together you never know...

I was referring to your reference of Wallace possibly leaving along with Crater and Offult and maybe even Turner. Turner might go after 3 years but I don't think so and I just do not see the other guys leaving.

First with Wallace all wings along with Buford coming in are going to be back next year...He isn't getting pt this year will he get it next year and if not will he want to transfer...

Crater and Offut are topped 100 type players come out of high school with great athletic ability...I don't think it is that crazy to think that they could possibly be ready to leave after two years...Are the chances high, well no, but there is a chance...

DIVISION IV BOYS BASKETBALL
Jefferson bumps Lockland

No. 2 seeded Broncos put three players in double figures to beat No. 1 seeded club.

DAYTON ? The Lockland Panthers came to Dayton Tuesday night with an impressive record and a top seed in their back pocket. It's clear the Jefferson Broncos were none-too-impressed.
Jefferson (18-6), the second seed in its bracket, shrugged off an extremely slow start to come back for an 83-59 victory in a Division IV District title contest at University of Dayton Arena. The Broncos ended Lockland's 13-game win streak while tallying their eighth consecutive victory. Dwayne Sanders paced the Broncos with 16, while Adreian Payne tacked on 12 and Jared Nolan added 11.
