'10 OH OL John Prior (Florida State Signee, transfer to Ohio)

not to be off topic, but could somebody please educate me on how a "grey shirt" works? Also, are any of Ohio State's O-line prospects (including Prior) capable and interested in playing D-line? Thanks in advance for anyone's responses.

The staff just seems to jump all over these kids whenever they see what they need to see. Maybe we wait for a Watt announcement, maybe we don't. Personally I think that if we have the opportunity to take both, it would be more than prudent to do so although Bollman historically works better with small groups.

True...but Prior likely will not get an offer for at least a week or two. On the spot is correct though.

Greyshirt is when a recruit does not have a scholarship but it rolls out Ohio State with the understanding that he pays his own way for Fall quarter and then goes on scholarship. The scholarship with count against the next year's class. I will defer to the football recruiting experts on whether some of the offensive linemen could play DL but it usually works that DL players can become good offensive linemen.

Not an expert and not to be OT but with the height these guys have (Prior is a legit 6'6 if photos aren't skewed) it would be hard to see them moving down to DT without some incredible knee bend ability. I don't think the numbers would make sense either if we were trying to shift guys over.

There is one thing you can not teach that this kid has - SIZE! He is a big ol boy, standing 6'6". The techniques will come in his redshirt season, as well as a likely sophomore season, but his size will always be there to protect Pryor - if he is given a schollie.

That would change quickly if tOSU was to offer. Could still happen.
