June, 2008: Not only is Nyarsuk a 7-footer, but he is also a long 7-footer. His game is fairly polished for a young big man. He shows the foundation to eventually be an impressive back to the basket player as he already scores consistently when in single coverage. He can struggle to pass out of the post, especially against double teams, but that is to be expected for such a young 7-footer. David also struggles when forced to step outside of 6-8 feet from the rim as his shot and shooting mechanics are poor at the moment as are many of his other ball skills. He has above average upper body strength for a young big man and is also a good shot blocker on the defensive end thanks to his size and length.

David Nyarsuk, a 7-foot-1 center from Sudan, played well when he was in the game. The big man runs the floor well for a player of his size. He is more athletic than he looks and the big fella kept the game where no one else could match up with him - way above his shoulders.

According to Cheney, Tennessee and Ohio State are the two most aggressive pursuers for the Rivals150 center.

Thanks. Things were getting a little slow on the basketball recruiting front. I hope they make this guy an offer and maybe you will give a verbal or help Payne make a decision. David sounds like a very good player.

Good that they've found someone as a "Plan B" to "Plan A" (Adreian Payne). He definitely seems to be in the Payne mold - a somewhat raw and tall but thin big man that can run the floor. I would like to see OSU get another recruiting victory over Bruce Pearl - I'm really growing to dislike that guy.

Using him as a plan B to Payne is prudent, but offering him and thus RISKING losing Payne for him I would not support! It is still too early in the process and this kid sounds REALLY REALLY RAW. While Payne is in most scouts T20 now. Nudging Payne is one thing, but an offer is too much. Payne is a must-have type you wait a bit for.

April, 2009: This long and mobile post has tons of upside. He runs the floor with ease and has good hands and feet to catch tough passes and score in traffic. In the half court is can score with his back to the basket and is extremely affect and making plays in the lane. At this point all offense is at 5-7 feet but his length allows him to elevate over opponents with ease. Nyarsuk is a good area rebounder on both ends of the floor where he can fire an outlet pass and beat the other post to the rim. He is a good position defender and active shot blocker. Nyarsuk has excellent timing and is conscious enough to block the ball in bounds to a teammate in order to start the break. This young center is one to keep an eye on because if he continues to improve he is a sure fire a major recruit.

December, 2008: Nyarsuk has an enormous amount of potential and promise. He has very good length and needs to add strength, but may not add much more muscle given his rather thin legs. However, Nyarsuk does not shy way from the paint and hits the offensive glass with aggression. He has very good footwork which makes for a nice back-to-the-basket game. If he has to, Nyarsuk has a reliable enough jumper from around the free-throw line to play the high spot in the high post or hit jumpers as a trailer in transition, an are where Nyarsuk could make a living given his impressive ability to change ends. Nyarsuk, with more experience, will also develop into a shot-blocking defensive force in a short amount of time, especially when he becomes stronger.

We still actively interested or is he on the backburner as a backup plan to if we whiff on Spoon, Payne and Ferguson?

i didn't know we were still trying to get Ferguson anymore, not meaning to hijack the thread but didn't that ship sail when he initially committed to UK or have we picked back up?

I am pretty sure that Ferguson backed off his deep commitment to Kentucky when Johnny C. was named HC but I will have to check on that.

Regarding Nyarsuk there is really no additional information out there, that I could find, from what was originally posted on Rivals and Scout.

Let's keep this thread on David.
