I don't think so. Pretty sure they will still use early enrollees to offset any scholarship shortfalls. I'd expect them to be at or very near 75 for the next 3 years.

They can't do that. An early enrollee counts against the previous year and next years early enrollees count against the 2012 15/75 limit. Last year was the only year to stockpile.

No offense, but there's no loophole to get them around the numbers. They are hard number limited to 15 a class.

but aren't they still limited to only taking 15 per year? to me, that doesn't provide a lot of incentive to run off guys that I will need in 2 years.

Somebody needs to audit that 15/75 for each of the next 3 years.

I'm sure Kiffin will try to play with the numbers like this:

Say they're at 55 players now. He'll take 5 early enrollees and have them not count against the 15 (which is sheer STUPIDITY that the NCAA allows).

55 + 5 + 15 (2-1-12 NLOID) = 75

Then he'll lose some players and run some off to get down to 55 again, and take more early entrants. This is what should NOT be allowed, since it goes over the 15 allowed for the '2012' class.

55 + 5 + 15 (2-6-13 NLOID) = 75

He'll play the same game again to get to 55.

55 + 5 + 15 (2-5-14 NLOID) = 75

USC will be back to allowing 85 for the 2015 class.

If USC is allowed to take 'early enrollees' each year, and if that doesn't place them over the 15 annual limit, he can actually take 20 new kids each year. Heck, he could do 10 early enrollees each year and have 25 new kids in each fall camp.

I hope the NCAA is smart enough to prevent that from happening.

They need to have the scholarship limitations applied like this:

Each fall season, you get 25 new scholarship names on the roster, whether they came in from JuCo, early enrollees, transfers, medical hardships taken, or normal fall enrollment. In USC's case, that number of new players should be limited to 15 for each of the next 3 seasons - just like tOSU's should be limited to 22.

Each of the 85 schollies is tracked individually. Once a scholarship is issued, it can't be re-issued until 4 years later. Period - no exceptions. Allowing it to be re-used for early graduates/medical hardships/whatever would just allow abuse of the system.

Improved parity was the intent of scholarship limits when they were imposed. Measuring it by the new arrivals at the start of each fall camp, and only allowing each scholarship to be used every 4 years, would also eliminate most of the issues involved with oversigning.

The 15 limit (as is true of the 25 limit) is on "initial counters" per academic year. That is, a school can only have so many new players enter school during a 12 month period. If a team had 20 initial counters in the fall they could only take 5 early enrollees the following year or they would go over their 25 limit.

The same will be true of USC. If 15 kids start school in the fall on schollie they can have zero early enrollees the following year.

I agree that the NCAA should have removed the loophole for year 1 with early enrollees. It severely limits the punishment.

I don't understand why you think early enrollees don't count after that. If they sign 15 in 2013, they can't add a 16th player, whether he's a regular recruit on signing day, a late spring decision like Pryor or an early enrollee the following january.
