'10 GA WR Tai-ler Jones (Notre Dame Verbal)

For those more in the know than I am; any chance the Bucks would encourage using an official visit for the spring game with Jones, or even Montana for that matter? Both these guys keep reiterating that they will make an early decision, and if they aren't coming in on their own dime, it would seem very prudent to promote maximum exposure to OSU, pulling out all the stops before they committ someplace else. I would hate to loose out on any early committing athlete because he didn't have the resources to get to OSU, when we still had an official in the holster.

I don't believe official visits are permitted until an athlete's senior year.

I guess I will just have to agree to disagree with you then. Tai-ler is a guy that can run all the routes and beat you deep. That's a true split end. We only have two of them, both unproven. In my eyes, that makes us thin.

Furthermore, I know both UGA and Ohio State have produced and recruited enough great players that the loss of one or two to the NFL is highly likely. A young man like Mr. Jones shouldn't be scared away by depth issues from either school.

Players leave early for the NFL all the time, if he works hard I'm sure Coach T and Coach Richt would get him on the field.

Good luck with your decision Mr. Jones. Take all the time you need.

BN $ - Jones Says Commitment May Not Be Far Off

3/24

By BK...may visit Cal, Stanford and UCLA over spring break...if so, he will probably make a commitment by the end of April.

Rivals $

3/25

From the OSU site...talks about how tough it was to narrow his list to seven...academics will be very important...talks a little bit about his contact with the OSU staff and talks briefly about each of his top schools.

My opinion: not coming here

Did you tell the staff so that they can move on to the next WR recruit? Do you have some sort of insight or is that just your educated guess? OSU is in his top 7 so until I hear otherwise I'll believe that they have a shot. Elephant stated on 3/23/09 that OSU is still in solid shape. I'm not planning on him being in this class but I'm not ready to count him out yet either.

I think it comes down to ND and OSU. One is his fathers favorite, the other produces NFL receiver. If CW gets canned, it enhances our chances even if he picks them early. UG is also the other school from everything i'm reading IMHO.

no I didn't but I did say my opinion. I don't think my opinion holds much weight with the coaching staff haha. I would love to have him, I'm just saying I don't see it happening. I think Georgia and Notre Dame probably have the big edge here. I would say he was definitely going to Georgia but the WR depth there is out of this world, so we'll see. Good kid and great prospect.

I kind of agree. I think he's headed to Georgia. I thought I read that he almost committed to UGA while on his visit, and he has moved up his commitment date, recently. Don't feel as confident for the Bucks. Would love to be wrong, though!

I honestly think Tai-ler is just doing a good job of keeping his recruitment quiet. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised to see him head to UGA, ND, or OSU. I think he has essentially made up his mind, thus moving the date up, but there is no real smoke to where he is heading, only speculation based on what we've read. I would say he stays in Georgia but that is just my OSU/southern recruiting pessimism. However, it isn't signing day, so I'll hold out hope

Well, if he wants to get on the fast track to being a major league pitcher, then he should go play receiver for the Domers.
If he wants to play in the NFL, then............
