Dunkley loses interest in USC

Just a few weeks ago WR Chris Dunkley (5-11 170) of Pahokee, FL seemed pretty strong on USC, but now he says he has cooled on the Gamecocks. "They haven't talked to me in a while," said Dunkley. "It's too late now. I'm done with them." Dunkley had planned to visit USC in June but the visit never materialized. Later this month, he will camp at both Florida and FSU. Both schools have offered. He also has offers from USC, Miami, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Georgia, Tennessee, West Virginia and Alabama among many other schools. Dunkley did not name a favorite.

If South Carolina has cooled on him, maybe there is more to Dunkey than meets the eye. Could explain why OSU hasn't offered either.

If he is a good as everyone thinks he is and South Carolina was a favorite, why would they cool on him.

South Carolina wasn't a favorite at all, and I don't think they're a program that backs of kids because of character issues. He has offers from all the FLA schools and USC I doubt S.C. sees something they don't. They probably just felt, as tOSU does(at least according to Dunkley why no offer is there) that they had no shot and moved on. tOSU is still recruiting Dunkley just have not offered for some preplexing reason.

TN: Which schools are on you the hardest?

CD: Right now, West Virgina, FSU, UF, USC, OSU, and Tennessee are showing me the most attention.

Chris Dunkley: Pahokee will be at Florida State's Seminole Showtime?Camp - Tomahawk Nation

If OSU is still talking to Chris...and there is mutual interest...then there is still a possibility of things shaking out well for both parties involved. Who knows, an official visit might change the whole chemistry of the situation. I respect Mr. Dunkley for understanding our situation and not rushing to cut us off the list...seems like this recruitment is being handled properly.

I have seen Dunkley play a few times in person, and beleive me, he is as good as everyone thinks he is. In fact, he might be better. I haven't checked the lists in a long time, but the last time I checked the Scout and Rivals Top 100 lists he wasn't on either one.

I've seen him play, and he's definitely a baller and somebody that you would think would be on a Top 100 list.

Having said this, I doubt he leaves the state of Florida.

Dunkleys ratings from top player lists I've found:

#49 Fans Voice 250
#68 Rivals 250
#82 Scout 300
#64 N2FL 250
#21 ThaRinger 300
#42 The Sporting News 100
#58 Athlete Vault150
#87 Offens-Defense 100

In addition, he's on the Athlon Watch List, the ESPN Watch List, and he's playing in the Under Armour AA game. Max Emfinger gives Dunkley a score of 1440 which puts him right around #187 on his list of top players.

The only list I've seen so far that doesn't have Dunkley is the Max Preps/Lemming top 100.

Dunkley Ready for the Fall

After an impressive showing at Florida’s Friday Night Lights, the commitment of Delray Beach Atlantic wide receiver to Ohio State, many feel Dunkley is a sure fire bet to join the Florida Gators eventually.

“Florida program is a top notch program, I love Florida. They are up there with Southern Cal, I love them, and you know all those great programs. I like Florida a lot. A lot of people think I’m a silent commit, I’m not. As I’ve said Florida is my leader, but at the same time I’m just not ready pull the trigger on anybody right now. How I see it any school pressuring me to pull the trigger, I’m taking them out of my list.”

Time to move this thread? The only mention re Ohio State is how the James Louis commitment likely seals Dunkley to the Gators.

Woah, where did the Gators go? I wonder if this comment from him might have something to do with it:

This is JMO, but if everyone knows where he's going, then people will lose interest. Sounds to me like CD loves the spotlight (see quotes below). Maybe a ploy on his part to not mention the Gators for this piece? Not that there's anything wrong with it, just a thought.

"I did my thing and scored a touchdown and kept the crowd in it," said Dunkley.

I want to be that player who, when I touch the ball, everyone stands up to see what I do.
