Game Thread #1 Texas at #2/#3 tOSU, Sat. Aug. 30th, 12pm ET, FOX

Ohio State Could Make Texas the First No. 1-Ranked Underdog in Week 1 Since 1978

Texas is the No. 1 team in the AP Poll yet finds itself as a 2.5-point underdog to No. 3 Ohio State in the 2025 season opener on Aug. 30. Barring significant line movement, the Longhorns will be the first top-ranked team to be an underdog in Week 1, according to ESPN research dating back to 1978.

Agree with the people who say Klare could be the key to this offense. Obviously with Sayin (or Kienholz) you are probably not going to want them to just drop back and rip balls all over the field when they have no experience. Between Smith and Klare that's probably 8-10 easy completions a game

Feel good talent wise going into this matchup. What scares me more than anything is play calling, in particular, offensive side.
Not afraid at all. I would be more afraid if it were an old RB doing the calling. Seriously, if Hartline goes 70% passes with that WR room, would we be disappointed?

I dont expect anything like that because he has plenty of experienced guys to lean on and the talent will dictate the day.

We won that last year because we were balanced. When things get tight, 2-3 calls decide a game, is Hartline going to have blinders on and chuck it? Dude has never really called a game of significance. It is about putting guys in the right spot, not just pure talent overtaking the day, that will lead us to a good year against the good teams. Otherwise, its Michigan all over again, getting beat against a inferior opponent with a crap game plan.

Just want to say the xichgan game plan was probably fine, except for some reason we didn't have a competent backup QB... I really hope Kenholtz is legit, cause I can't watch another "The Game" with a concussed qb.
