For those worried, look at the play-by-play in 2nd half. They only stopped us once as the rain started to let up and Fields got more comfortable. Remember, this was his first big game and it was down pouring the first half. Up until last few games, I noticed he had a tendency to just throw to wide open guys. Lately, he is throwing into tighter windows. It’s called maturation/trial by fire. So even though he was sacked 4 times in first half, how many throws did he have? He was 5-9 for 65 yards .... In 2nd half, he threw a bit more ... was 7-13 for 100 yards and 1 sack - not as afraid via holding it. Note, this was his 8th game which seems like a lot other than he sat most of 2nd halves before this (so say 5th game).
There is only 2 stats to focus on ... Taylor was held to only 52 yards this year and 41 yards in 2017 (he had 1700 yard season as Freshman). Against a team like Wisc, you take away their main option and let Coan beat you (probably minus his receiver ... if knee, AJTaylor ain’t going to be running when he couldn’t put any pressure on it the other day). Just match A CB with Cephus to limit him and how many more yards can they gain on last game’s 191 vs 431? Who benefits more from longer routes in a climate control environment? Sure, it should (could) be a closer game, yet I doubt Day will let off the gas in his team prep. Yes, Fields May not run as much this time, yet his maturation throwing the ball will give Dobbins more room to run as well.
I think they will find someway wrinkle to gain more yards and score more than 7. Yet, I doubt they can hold us to 30s unless Fields gets hurt.
