#1 Ohio State 66, #3 Wisconsin 49 (Final)

I personally think OSU has a 1 locked up. Even losing this game, Ohio State's losses would all be to teams currently vying for #1 seeds. No other team can make this same claim. So, the way I see it Wisky is absolutely playing for a 1, Ohio State has one regardless.

I think it is a joke that most of the media thinks this game today should settle who will get a #1 seed in the tournament......shouldn't you have to win your conference to be even considered for a #1 seed? I thought the selection group looks at your body or work and not just one game?

Regardless, my opinion is that no matter what the outcome is today, that OSU will be a #1 seed....

I edited my comment yesterday after further reflection...

I agree OBJ that Ohio State should have a #1 seed. Finishing the year a consensus #1 in both polls and conference champion should be enough. Unfortunately, I'm not in the committee and I have a feeling they could deal out the winner a #1 seed.

Here is the key; I don't think conference tournaments should be about determining #1 seeds. I see two reasons for a conference tournament:

1. For mid-major conferences, it determines who goes to the NCAA Tournament.

2. For major conferences, it determines what bubble teams get in and who stays home.

BKB, I personally don't think any conference should have 2 #1 seeds in the tournament. I feel the 6 major conferences should battle it out for the 4 #1 seeds and four of the conference champions should be rewarded. Just my opinion of course.

I am completely FIRED UP!!!!! I just got off work here in AZ, and I believe I'll be staying up all day until we're Big10 tourney champs and the #1 seed in the NCAA tournament!

Its going to be chicken wings and some cold ones in front of the plasma screaming my head off. Isnt it fun that we can have this much fun so far away from football season? I think I'll listen to TBDBITL on the way home.

But this assumes that the committee has time to tinker with the brackets after the conclusion of the Big Ten tourney, which isn't true. That's why I think if UF, UNC, and Kansas all win today, they'll leave one #1 open for the winner of the Big Ten title game and one #2 open for the loser.

I guess if you are going to use that type of logic you could say that the committee could put down all three of the teams that you mentioned along with the Big 10 loser and the loser would get the #1 seed and one of the other three teams would get a #2 seed.

With regards to the game if Oden doesn't touch the ball at least once on every Ohio State possession, except for a fast-break, the guy who jacks up the first long-range three before Oden gets his touch should sit on the bench for a few minutes.

Also, Lewis needs to play much better today than he did yesterday. I can't believe that he took 16 shots. He needs to use his athleticism more but I have been saying that all season.

I have no problem if Lewis is taking his shots going to the basket and missing...

I think it is quite possible that the Big Ten gets 2 no. 1 seeds with UCLA bowing early in the PAC 10 Championship.

I could see the winner staying home and taking the 1 here and the loser taking the 1 in the West. Florida will take the 1 in their region if they win today and Kansas will take the other.

I don't think the conference tournament winner should get the automatic bid to the dance in any conference. They also should not be considered the conference champ except as the tournament champ. It really cheapens winning the regular season.

The Lady Buckeyes are obviously going to be in, but they should have the auto birth from the regular season championship. Purdue should be classified as the tournament champion and not the Big 10 champ.

We'll have to agree to disagree on the West. Although UCLA has lost recently, the did win the regular season Pac 10 and had a very good SOS. I think they deserve a #1 seed.

As for conference tournament champs, it is imperative the tradition continues for mid major conferences or they will be left out of the tournament, hardly fair.

I agree the mid majors need the bids, but I don't believe it has to come from the conference tournament champ. I think Akron gets hurt in the MAC with Miami winning the tournament. Basketball doesn't need split conferences with the amount of available games they can play.

UCLA has too many bad losses IMO to be a #1...

I think it is us, Kansas for sure then Florida/UCLA/Wisky/UNC for the final 2...
