Xavier Nixon vistited Ohio State today. I has having lunch with Solomon, Sabino, Heyward and Nate at marketplace (on campus) and Coach Bollman dropped Xavier off to chill with us. He talked for a minute with everybody and then they went upstaris to Solomons room. I had to leave though. IDK what happened. I will ask tomorrow though................

Edit: I dont know when Nixon leaves campus but I know I was told the team has practice early tomorrow. He will probably attend that. He could be here until sunday morning...... he mentioned he hasn't even seen the WH athletic facility yet...............

Nixon Drawing Recruiters

By Phil Kornblut
OL Xavier Nixon (6-7 270) of Fayetteville, NC has seen coaches from Clemson, Michigan, North Carolina, NC State, Notre Dame and Alabama come thru his school thus far, and of course, many more recruiters will be thru before the end of the month. Nixon said Clemson recruiter Chris Rumph came in on Friday. "I talked to him the whole first period," Nixon said. "It's all starting to pick up now with the coaches getting out to visit. The in state schools are recruiting me hard. Miami, Clemson, Michigan and Notre Dame also are recruiting me hard. I'm looking for a place where I can do things academically. If I can make it to the NFL, that would be great. But I need something to fall back on. I'm also looking at how the place fits my style of play. And, do they want me to apply the same things I'm doing now.. And the comfort level is a big factor. I'm waiting on my father to get home from Afghanistan in two weeks before cutting my list to ten." Nixon visited Ohio State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Tennessee earlier this spring. Towards the end of this month and plans to visit LSU, Florida, Auburn and Georgia. And he might get by Clemson, too. "Coach Rumph invited me to stop by and he definitely wants me to," Nixon said. "I'm going to talk about it with my family and coach."

Nixon To Cut List Next Week

By Phil Kornblut
OL Xavier Nixon (6-7 270) of Fayetteville, NC plans to trim his long list of offers down to ten or five by the end of next week. Clemson and USC are among Nixon's offers, but he said neither is guaranteed a spot on his final list. "I'm not sure on either one making the cut," Nixon said. But between the two, Clemson appears to have the better chance. "I've been around Clemson a lot more than South Carolina," he said. "They've been around a lot longer. I talked to coach (Brad) Scott about two days ago. He came by the school." Nixon said by Thursday or Friday of next week, he'll know the schools he plans to focus on in the next phase of his decision making process. "I'm looking at where I can get a degree, have early playing time and win a championship," Nixon said. Last weekend he made visits to LSU, Auburn and Florida. He hasn't planned any other visits but he wants to make one to Miami. Nixon has over 40 offers representing most of the top programs in the country.

Holliday: Local lineman gets national attention
Posted: May. 24

Xavier Nixon grew up in a "homework comes first" household. He is the rare serious student who also possesses a high football IQ:

"He knows when the wide receivers screw up. He just has that kind of IQ and it's so rare," says Jack Britt head football coach Richard Bailey. "Usually you've got the quarterback who know's what everybody's doing, but it's so unusual for an offensive lineman to know what everybody on the football field is doing."

Nixon is a student athlete who works to maintain his complete mental focus during periods of extreme exertion - a 6-6, 270-pound technician whose strength is exceded only by his athleticism:

"I have great footwork for an offensive lineman," Nixon admits. "I know how to use my hips and set my angle to use the strength that I have."

"There's a lot of big guys that can mash people in front of them," says coach Bailey. "But, there aren't a lot of athletic guys who can get to the corner and block the defensive backs and safeties...the real athletic guys."
