Sounds bush league actually. If he wasn't good enough, why offer? And if he is good enough, why not wait?

Fritz Rock signs with Illinois' Class of 2010
Illinois has added a safety to its signing Class of 2010 in Fritz Rock of Wayzata (Plymouth (Minn.), who will be eligible this upcoming season.

Rock (6-foot-0, 200-pounds) was a senior receiver/defensive back in 2008, helping Wayzata to a 13-0 record and a state championship. He had offers from Minnesota, Cincinnati and Indiana, among others, but sat out the 2009 college season because of academic and personal reasons.

Rock's father died after a stroke during his senior year and he also had issues with the NCAA Clearinghouse. After spending the past year training and working on his academics, he is now in good standing academically.
