'09 MI RB Larry Caper (Michigan State Verbal)

I agree about Big Ten coaches picking up recruiting.

I think you meant Caper and Baker. :tongue2: We've got a Elite 11 QB coming in, and Donald Spencer and Fred Smith are no slouches.

Great quote from Caper, and oh...he officially commited now according to Rivals.

"Oh man, Michigan State is putting together a good recruiting class," Caper said. "I think we should be pretty good with Edwin Baker, me, Chris Norman and the other guys. All we need to do is get a couple of great linemen to take care of us skill players. I think I need to start working on getting some offensive linemen for our team."

MSU recruiting: Touted running back commits to Spartans | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Touted Battle Creek Central running back Larry Caper has committed to play for Michigan State in fall 2009, Rivals.com reported on Wednesday.

Caper, a 5-feet-11, 210-pound junior, rushed for 1,473 yards on 160 carries in 2007 and clocked a 4.41 time in the 40-yard dash. Rivals ranks him as the 64th-best junior prospect in the nation regardless of position.

Caper also had offers from Michigan, Iowa and Stanford, among others.

MSU has collected five verbal commitments for 2009, all from the state of Michigan. Detroit Renaissance linebacker Chris Norman committed in February, making him the first to choose MSU for 2009. Running back Edwin Baker (Oak Park), quarterback Andrew Maxwell (Midland) and wide receiver Donald Spencer (Ypsilanti) are the other three prospects MSU expects to have for 2009.

Illinois (Zook), Minny (Brewster), MSU (Dantonio) all seem to really be picking up steam in terms of recruiting...

With Caper and Baker that is two top 100 backs...Now if they can get some lineman to block for them and a QB with some WR's they will be on the right path...

He got a good WR last year in Fred Smith. He will be a beast.

Mmm D'Antonio credibility as a recruiter just jumped several notches with these two horses being added to his '09 backfield.

Can he add Jackson and Sims?
Sims is a definite possibility (he projects as TE, we need a TE, we're recruiting him the hardest), Jackson, probably not.

Good Friend

As a former co-captain with Larry Caper II he is an all around athlete. I have seen this kid do some amazing things. I put together highlight reels for many of the guys that we played with on the 07-08 Bearcat team. Larry has speed that you cant believe, and his vision is unheard of. If you could actually attend one of his games, then you would realize how special this young man is. He has a 3.8 GPA and has already verbally committed to MSU. Not because he runs a 4.3, but if you looked at the kid you would realize what he is. A 220 pounder solid as a rock, with soft hands and quick feet, can block and has an understanding of the game, what coach wouldnt want a perfect running back? But with this season starting rocky as a senior ( Head coach leaving to Holt) there are many distractions that could rattle any other kid. Plus his sophomore year he was injured after nearly 4 games when he racked up over 700 yards rushing i believe. Like i said this kid is special and he will be a force to heard when the 09-10 college football season begins. I bet hes a starter as a TRUE FRESHMAN! GO SPARTANS!!
