'09 MD CB Darrell Givens (Penn State Signee - switched to Rutgers)

I bet some of you had the same lecture for Melvin Fellows when he committed to Illinois and then decommitted in order to commit to tOSU...laughable at best. Kid is a stud, happy he switched to Penn State where he can learn behind AJ for a year and join his H.S. teammate Malcolm Willis in the same class if he ever signs his LOI for Penn State.

Some say that there is innocence in youth, others say there is ignorance.

I am sure that the differences between the Fellows situation and what Givens did are completely lost on you, which may be a result of your youth.

Hopefully Penn State develops Givens as well as they developed Justin King. Best of luck to him.

If I was staff I wouldnt even bother recruiting him anymore..

He is done on the board. There are many many schools that use the "early PT" gauge to evaluate a kid's heart...as soon as Darrell said he thought he could get on the field quicker in Happy Valley, he was done as a Buckeye.

Two things you absolutely cannot coach: heart and swagger.

As Coach Cooper often said, "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."
Wasn't that an Archie Griffin quote? Oh well, good luck to Mr. Givens at PSU. I hope he gets his early PT because that probably means they're thin at CB.

Well said.....in that case I am sold.....I'd rather have the next DBs on the board than him. Good luck to you Mr. Givens at PSU.

Hey, no need to fuel a fire...

good luck to Mr. Givens, Penn State is a fine program and ads much to the strength of the Big 10. I hope you find what you seek there.

Good luck on all game days except the ones when you face the Buckeyes.

Give me a DB class of Wood, McGee, Emilien, Barnett and either Hunter or Banks and I am ecstatic...no sour grapes here at all, but Givens is the one kid that was committed so far that I could have parted with. Any time you get a shotgun commitment like that, it's probably a good idea to temper your expectations as to whether or not that commitment is going to stick all the way to NLOID.

Credit where credit is due, Coop simply lifted that homily from Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain).

Wish him luck also, but I do wonder if this is the end of his recruiting story. Still taking some visits, right?

Good stuff 45... The excitement on my part was a result of me basing his quick commitment on more of a brilliant move on his part. I'm sure he was aware of how much an OSU offer came at a premium these days and wanted to nail down his spot. Oh well, Good luck Darrell wherever you end up.
