'09 MD CB Darrell Givens (Penn State Signee - switched to Rutgers)

I was excited to have Givens because he looks like a stud but we will find others. Hopefully he stays in the B10... I would be worried if I were PSU, he seems easily swept up in the moment.

Exactly. I wouldn't be too confident of this commit if (God forbid) I were a State Penn fan. We often forget that these are just 17 year old kids. Best of luck wherever he ends up. Woulda been nice to hold onto him, but I'm certainly not gonna lose any sleep over this with all the talent already on board and the others we're chasing.

His next visit is ....Florida. So, the Nits shouldn't get to comfortable just yet.
No kidding.

Quote from the day he committed:

...I just hope he has seen everything he wanted to see at the other schools. I'd rather he wait to commit until he's 100% sure of his school rather than risk the possibility of him re-opening his recruitment up and decommitting closer to NLOID.

There was just something fishy about him committing so early and so quickly the way he did. Not very surprised it all happend, but I'm surprised it happend less than a month after committing to us.

Still plenty of fish in the sea. Best of luck to Darrell. We hardly knew ye.

Fwiw he can go where he wants to. If he feels PS is the place for him then good luck Darrel.
I won't lose any sleep over him or berate him either way. Our Buckeyes will be who want to be Buckeyes.
I wish Darrel well.
They probably will rename that place loser valley pretty soon anyway thed way the program is going.

Givens wanted early playing time. There's a reason that Penn State offers early playing time and Ohio State doesn't - it's called "talent", or lack thereof in PSU's case.

As Coach Cooper often said, "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."

But, State Penn fans were bragging about their DB depth?

Good luck young man wherever you end up.

Next..........................

Just happy it happened now.. The way this class is going, losing recruits now isn't a big deal at all because there are others who we can get.. Much better than happening on signing day when we can't recover from it.

I was excited to have Givens because he looks like a stud but we will find others. Hopefully he stays in the B10... I would be worried if I were PSU, he seems easily swept up in the moment.

As Lee Corso says....I agree with you 100%

I wish Darrell all the very best.....I am still hoping that he would end up in S&G.

If I was staff I wouldnt even bother recruiting him anymore.. he's not reliable.. and if he ever did flip back down the road... it's possible he could end up screwing us over again late in the process..

Im at least happy he decommited here in May..we still have plenty of time to get other top CBs
