'09 KY ATH Justin Green (Illinois Signee)

Green is the type of player that can play anywhere...Will be interesting to see where he is going to get his first shot at playing...

Green claims that JT recruited him primarily at CB with some snaps at WR. But I couldn't agree more....Justin is as versatile a player as any.

Scout.com: Illini Receives Camp Visit From OSU Commit

:slappy:

Keep in mind there is not one quote from Justin in that entire article...
...and how the Illini truly cares about the kids and will be there for them throughout the process, and how they don't pressure their kids to commit, but look around so they're sure that Illinois is the right school for them...

... all this like the Ohio State staff doesn't do this, making it seem like since we have 23 commits already we are forcing these kids to commit NOW. While that may be the case with numbers getting tight (except for the forcing part), Ohio State has ALWAYS encouraged these kids to wait it out and take their time, visit other school, etc. before commiting to Ohio State.

These Illini fans just don't stop, they really don't. Pretty comical :)

I agree 100% both Newsome and Corey Brown said in interveiws that they were under no pressure to commit early and that tOSU told them to take their time with the recruiting process so that blows the illini's theory right out the water .

Very true! That has always been Tressel's MO.. Make sure you want to be a Buckeye before you commit. In several interviews he has said that the most important thing he want's recruits to be sure that they want to be a Buckeye. He wants them to take visits and be sure!!

When you hear comments like what Corey and Dorian said , "You can't visit Ohio State and not want to commit. Ohio state is all that!!"

I think Justin felt the same way!

With Justin Green now committed, the OSU football team will have 5 state 100, 200 and/or 400-meter-dash champions from 4 different states in 2009 and 2010: Michigan(Jackson - 10.39, 21.2), Ohio(Saine - 10.36, Posey - 47.4), Maryland(Thomas - 10.38) and Kentucky(Green - 10.5, 21.8, 48.9).

I would love to see all these guys on the field at once in 2010 - with Pryor at QB; Saine and Thomas at RB in a split-back set; Green, Jackson and Posey at WR; and Adams, Boren, Cordle, Brewster, and Shugarts across the line.

A defense simply could not afford to man-cover against that formation with a base 4-3, 3-4 or 46 defense. In a more-likely Nickel D, Saine and Thomas would be covered by either linebackers or safeties, a match-up the coaching staff will take any day. If the defense decided to go to a most-likely Nickel or Dime-Zone-Blitzing-scheme, it would allow our 5 speed guys to showcase their ability to get open and Pryor's ability to make plays outside the pocket. It's very exciting when you consider this same team could just as effectively run a power-possession game with Hyde and Herron in the backfield; Stoneburner and Washington at WR; and huge 6'8, 260+ guy like Fragel at TE.

Anyway, I'm very glad we got Green and I'm very excited to see him on either side of the ball at OSU. With his great production and speed, I think he could see early playing on offense.

Normally I'm not a big fan of people imagining who's on the field, because they're typically very unrealistic formations with 6 running backs or 3 quarterbacks, but I could definitely see this coming to fruition if Green is used on the offensive side of the ball, with one correction, Thomas in the shotginn slot and not in the backfield.

I highly doubt any SEC team could put that kind of speed on the field at one time and not have anyone playing out of position.

ESPN - Who just missed the cut? - Football Recruiting

Nineteen athletes made the 150, but there were even more who received consideration. One is Justin Green (Louisville, Ky. / Male) a fast-twitched athlete with excellent speed and burst. He can play on offense, defense or in the return game. As a running back he is more of a scat-back, as strength and durability could be a concern as an in-line runner, and at corner he needs to improve his run support, but overall he is a talented prospect.

Buckeye Commit Hopes For Offer From Tigers
By Eric Guimaraes

ATH Justin Green (5-10 180) of Louisville, KY has already committed to Ohio State but says that Clemson has shown a lot of interest. He hopes to get an offer from them. "Right now, I'm comitted to Ohio State. I would love for Clemson to offer me though. I need to make sure I'm going to the right school. That's what my parents would want me to do." Green has offers from several programs including Alabama, Wake Forest, NC State, Illinois, Kentucky, and Louisville. He is playing wide receiver, runningback, and defensiveback this season and will likely return punts as well. He says he's a busy man on the football field. His father is the DB Coach at his high school and has been coaching him since he began playing football as a youngster. "When I was little, they (my parents) made me play when I didn't want to and I'm glad they did. I fell in love with the game and my dad has always been there with me. I think that's helped me gain a strong understanding of the game." His brother Marcus played at OSU and he says he grew up a State fan. "I've always loved watching them play. My brother went there and so they've always been my team." Green says he is pretty strong in his commitment but would like to see what other schools can offer him. "I think Clemson is a good school and I would like to learn more about them. I hope they offer me." Justin ran a 4.41 40 last month and also runs track for his high school.

IlliniHQ.com: Your Illini Sports Headquarters

David, New York, New York: What are the realistic chances of picking up Jelani Jenkins (Rivals 5 star) and Justin Green (OSU commit but still visiting)?

Moderator: David,

When it comes to Illinois recruiting, I don't think you can count the coaches out with anybody.

I have heard rumors about Justin Green, who is a star at Louisville Male. He apparently likes the Illinois coaches and wants to reopen his recruiting. If that happens, my guess is he'll pick Illinois. Rarely do you see the guy who opens his recruiting go back to the original school, though it can happen.

Feel free to let loose with a flurry of "Illinois has a chance" jokes...
