'09 KS RB Bryce Brown (Tennessee one-n-done, Kansas State one-n-done)

College Football Recruiting On the Trail 2009 - ESPN

Top unsigned prospect Bryce Brown to visit Vols
ESPNU 150 running back Bryce Brown, who did not sign last Wednesday but is committed to Miami-FL, will make one of his final two official visits to Tennessee the weekend of February 14th, ESPN affiliate Web site InsideTheU.com reports.

Brown has already taken official visits to Missouri, Clemson and Oregon and has unofficially visited Kansas State.

After traveling to Tennessee, Brown is expected to make his final official visit on February 28th. USC, LSU or Miami are potential destinations for that trip.

The Wichita East product, at this point in time, is expected to sign his letter of intent on March 12th.

I haven't followed the kids recruiting very closely, but I cant blame him for looking around and taking his time. If he fully concentrated on his High School Senior season and is wanting to take advantage of the offered time til April, then go ahead. We don't hold a grudge against Pryor for not signing on the first day with us, so I cant really fault this kid either.

SERE, you should really read this thread, and you'll probably have a much different opinion.

CollegeFootballTalk.com - BRYCE BROWN: ‘LSU IS SOUNDING REALLY FOR REAL’

What, you thought you were going to get through the night without yet another Bryce Brown update?

According to an update on the website of Brown?s handler, Brian Butler, it seems as if LSU is making a late but very strong run at landing the services of the top-rated player in the nation.

Tigers head coach Les Miles reached out to Brown on Monday, and apparently, the website said, made ?a lasting impression? on the running back.

?LSU is sounding really for real,? Brown said. ?They have some great lineman and they got Reuben Randle and Craig Loston. LSU is definitely in the running for my final visit.?

(The last sentence, incidentally, was bolded on the website. Can?t you just smell the drama? Or something?)
?Bryce sounded very intrigued about LSU,? added Butler.

Brown has two official visits remaining; he will take one to Tennessee on the weekend of February 14. Based on numerous reports, the other visit will apparently come down to three schools: Miami (Fla.), USC and the aforementioned LSU.

This charade has gone on so long that I know plenty of Miami fans who couldn't care less now if he comes or not as they already have some good RBs already coming to town. The whole Robert Marve situation really put things in perspective about people who want to be at Miami or do not.

Honestly I like Miller better. This Bryce Brown kid seems like a head case.

I am not totally a Miller fan, because he has a reluctance to run inside and when he does he gets stopped (probably a good reason), but for Miami's sake I really wonder about Brown and his motives (and his 'agent').

Ohio St. definitely got the better of the two running backs in Miami in Berry over Miller.

If you dont say so yourself!!

LOL.

Here's the bottom line and it goes to something related to Bryce Brown in terms of an analogy.

Miller has had some good lineman blocking for him in his years there. Now Killian where he plays hadn't had a good defense until last year so they were iffy back in 2007 as far as winning games. Problem was that every time Miller ran up the middle, even with that big line, he couldn't find a way to jerk himself free (he have to be running up against some bad competition, which was rare in the district where Miller played (and also Berry, too), maybe against some out-of-district opponents.

Berry didn't have a great offensive line last year, he had to take on the defense largely himself until his senior year (not that o-line was bad, but they were young) and had to fight inside, twisting and turning, to find a way through unlike Miller who would constantly try to take pitches or sweeps. I saw Miller get slammed in a playoff game last year against Northwestern. Still a great back, but I have to hope at the next level he gets good coaching to teach him how to run up the middle.

With Brown, okay, he's got great stats and I'm sure he'll be a great player, but we have seen with his older brother at Miami, Arthur Brown, he really hasn't been the phenom he was expected to be, at least yet, and a lot of Miami fans are pointing to do the fact that the level of competition, on average, is not the same in Kansas as it is in Florida, and that goes for Brown. Thus Berry has taken a harder route and that should serve him well at the big O.
