No. 3 Lawrence North survives scare
Kyree Jones scored eight of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to help Class 4A No. 3 Lawrence North hold off visiting Terre Haute South 52-51 in boys high school basketball Friday.
The Wildcats, who trailed by two at halftime, tied the score 37-37 at the end of the third quarter on a 60-foot shot by Marcus Ferguson. The Wildcats led most of the fourth, but the result was in doubt until the end.
Stephan Van Treese added 12 points and 10 rebounds for Lawrence North (3-0, 1-0 Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference).
John Javis led the Braves (1-1, 0-1) with 17 points.
The Wildcats will travel to Class 4A No. 2 Marion tonight, while Terre Haute North will play at Mooresville.

Mays, Giants win early battle of 4A powers
MARION, Ind. -- Even though Julius Mays led Marion to victory in a battle between the only two nationally ranked high school basketball teams in Indiana, he wasn't ready to celebrate.
"It's real big, but we expected it," Mays said after spearheading Class 4A No. 2 Marion past No. 3 Lawrence North 71-63 Saturday night.
Lawrence North's 6-9 Stephan Van Treese, the state's highest-ranked junior, had his second consecutive double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
