By Heath Schneider.....Adams makes it clear Ohio State will get a visit (along with his father). Orginally from Massillon, him and his father are Buckeye fans. Still has not narrowed down a "top" list.

Good stuff. Thanks for the update

For whatever reason this staff isn't too fond of the heavy DTs...They want quick guys that use their hands well and get good leverage...

Insert, Denlinger, Larimore, Anderson, Goebell as guys like that...They also like guys that can play inside and out...

Also guys that some are looking for are very hard to come by and there are maybe 5 or 6 a year in college football...

That's why taking Rowell shocked me even when he got done to 300. I think you need a big guy and a quick guy inside personally. I think Adams could be up to 300 easily by the time he gets to college and would be perfect to go with Simon. On top of that, it sounds as if we have a legit shot and I've always liked our chances if we make him a priority.

In terms of heavy guys, I mentioned in another thread about olineman, but I don't think they like guys with bad weight...If a guy weighed 380 and it was good weight they would go after him, but they want someone with their weight in control, can continue to go hard play after play, and make plays, not just take up space.

And there aren't that many guys over 300 with good weight...Those are the top 1 or 2 DT's in the country every year...

I still think they want to see kids from out west kinda make the first move and visit on their own dime or be very interested in scheduling an official visit, but if there is someone they like about as much, or someone showing more interest from the midwest, they pass on the guy from out west...Much like the O'Dowd situation, where he kept saying he was going to visit, but never did...

I agree completely. A lot of Buckeye fans who are worried about our lack of size in the middle seem to forget that our great d-lines in '05, '03, and '02 didn't have a big 330 lber. Our '02 d-line was relatively small and didn't have anyone listed over 300 lbs on the depth chart. The top 2 DT's last year in cfb, Dorsey and Ellis, were about 6'1" 305-310 lbs. It's really not about size.

Back to Adams though.

Sweet, sweet music!! His hinted of previous interest now confirmed...and explained; Ohio roots! If we can land him w/Simon inside, what a haul it would be, indeed!!

That is a good point. I realize most high school DT's aren't going to be 300+ and a ball player, but it just seems our DT's stay small. We have 1 DT on our roster over 300 (Larimore at 304) and our starters are 286 (Denlinger) and 280 (Worthington). It just seems we could put some more weight on them to be more effective.

Anyways, O'Dowd was the first thing that came to my head but I'm really hoping we pursue Adams because I think we have as good of a shot as anyone. It's a lot more effort but I think he is worth it, as the rest of the prospect mentioned above are DE prospects.

Seems like a long shot and not really a big need with the great class in 2008 and a couple more already added in 2009 on the DLine.

Not sure I would call him a long shot just because of the offers...He has mentioned his liking of the bucks and growing up here, and him and his father both being buckeye fans...

I Agree with 40... I can be a Nancy Negative with West Coast kids... but Adams is different. He's wanted to be a Buckeye and has been talking about it since he was a sophmore. With the talent we're stockpiling, he could very easily pull the trigger on a visit here. The enviroment will be crazy, especially with the arrival of Pryor. With all things considered, especially with him in AZ and USC doing a great job there... I'd say it comes down to USC, OSU and ASU with an outside shot.
