08 Recruiting (CBF40's look at our prospects)

I think if Howard is offered this weekend then the probability of him and Sabino coming goes way up. Not sure if they would still take Harris if they get Howard.

Lately, I have been saying I think Hale ends up at WVU (and Saddler ends up at UVA).

Still can't get a good read on Johnson...and I know people are very confident about Mobley but I need to hear it from his mouth first.

Rowell, Howard, Sabino, Pryor, Mobley, Floyd and Scott would be a heck of a finish to this class...and certainly very possible.

I agree, I really think that Harris is a long long long shot, but he is so good that you have to continue to recruit him, that is in a way why I feel they are waiting to offer Howard, as they feel that he will committ on the spot...

I agree on Mobley, but it just seems he is one that says things to the media just to be politically correct, opposite of what he tells others close to him...

As for that class, that is what I would love to land, just not sure if there are the numbers to make that happen...

I know I might be alone on this one but I would gladly take Bayless now that Floyd has verbaled to the Domers...I really liked his film but I haven't heard anything about his recruitment for some time.

Honestly I am of the opinion that I would rather just pass on another WR prospect, and pick up a DB...With Scott counted in this class, we have 3 WR's and 1DB/WR so I would rather grab another DB like Howard, Harris, or Johnson...

When the Buckeyes miss on a top-flight prospect with Floyd's resume there are really only two good responses.

A - Get the next best prospect at that position - if netting Floyd was more about filling a need than it was about him being best available at that position. I think it was the latter. So option B.
B - Get the next best available player, at a position of need.

So, do we need additional DBs now more than any other position?

If it is about a position of need what about another DT or DE?

In this case though I am talking about taking a different WR who already has an offer...not sending out an offer to a new WR prospect...

Here is my pre-AA games update:

Based on all the information I have read, all the emails I have exchanged with people that provide info for the BPRT and my gut feelings, here is my guess for this class:

QB -
RB - Torrence
WR - Posey
WR - Stoney
WR - Thomas
TE - DiLillo
OL - Brewster
OL - Adams
OL - Shugarts
OL -
DL - Williams
DL - Mobley
DL - Goebel
DL - Rowell
DL -
LB - Sweat
LB - Sabino
CB - Howard
K/P - Buchanan
Wildcard -

From the information I have seen, the staff is focused on three players in particular right now...Pryor, Jenkins and Wells. I know everyone is ga-ga over Liuget and Harris, but JT is personally handling Wells recruitment right now and Liuget has been shaky about even visiting. That ship appears to be sailing. I think he sticks with his commitment to Illinois, whether by choice or not. I am tempted to go with Brandon Harris as my wildcard because of the relationship his father and JT have developed, but he is going to be a battle...with Miami having the inside track at least until he makes his official visit. I also know everyone is really excited about the thought of guys like Patrick Johnson, Jonas Gray and Kyle Rudolph hanging with the OSU verbals but I think it's best to temper our expectations. Rudolph spent a few hours with the OSU verbals and next thing I saw was people asking if he was going to switch his commitment since he was hanging with the Brew Crew...when in actuality he has spent most of his time down there with the ND verbals and is as solid to ND as humanly possible. Johnson has too many question marks and until I hear otherwise I think Torrence will be in this class. I am still waiting for a response from someone about Bayless and I have not included Gardiner because I think he takes the grayshirt and delays his enrollment at OSU.

So in the end, give me Pryor, Jenkins and Wells (I am extremely confident about the first two and growing more and more confident about Wells) and I would be ecstatic. Toss in Harris and call it my birthday.
