'08 PA LB Christian Wilson (North Carolina Signee)

Scout $

7on7 film. Bob Lichtenfels is now convinced Christian will play offense in college.

My Take: I hate 7on7...nothing major here. We all knew Christian moved well. I did not arrive at the same conclusion as Bob L...but I am not disagreeing with the possibility.

Wilson Likes Wolves Over Tigers
By Phil Kornblut

LB Christian Wilson (6-3 235) of McKees Rock, PA hopes to make a decision before his season. He has narrowed down his list from more than 45 offers to a little more than a handful. His current top five are Clemson, Michigan, Rutgers, North Carolina and Virginia Tech, and all are considering him for both sides of the ball. He can also play tight end, H-back or running back. He said Michigan is his current favorite ahead of Clemson and Rutgers. "Clemson wants me more for defense," he said. "The way they use their tight end is not the way I want to be used," if he played on the offensive side. Wilson said he hears daily from Clemson recruiters David Blackwell and Andre Powell. Schools just out of his top five and still under consideration are Louisville, Boston College, Michigan State and Nebraska. Wilson said he will be at the University of Florida for a few days later this month participating in a basketball tournament.

High School Notebook: Recruiters zero in on Michigan slump
Thursday, September 13, 2007
By Mike White, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
College football recruiters have been known to use any piece of information to get an edge with a high school player. Some of them are trying to use Michigan's bad start to help with the recruitment of Montour High School player Christian Wilson.
Wilson, a senior running back/linebacker, made a verbal commitment to Michigan last month. But that hasn't stopped other schools from calling him recently. And the Wolverines' woes definitely come up in the conversation.
Wilson didn't want to say what colleges have called, but said: "Even though I'm committed, coaches aren't going to give up. It doesn't help that Michigan has lost two in a row."
"Some of the coaches will just say, 'Hey, if something goes wrong at Michigan, you always have a scholarship here.' They tell me that [Michigan coach] Lloyd Carr might resign. They don't make fun of Michigan, but they just say some things."
Wilson said he is solid with his commitment to Michigan, but added, "If their coaching staff goes, I'll have to see what's going on."

Montour's Wilson looks around

Montour's Christian Wilson says he is still a Michigan recruit, but he is looking at a few other schools. Wilson made a verbal commitment to Michigan in August, but had second thoughts when Lloyd Carr retired and Rich Rodriguez became coach. Wilson was recruited by Michigan to play H-back, a hybrid between fullback and tight end. But Wilson questioned whether he would fit into Rodriguez's spread-option offense.

Wilson is considering Boston College and North Carolina and visited Boston College this past weekend. He said he has talked to Rodriguez only once.

"He hasn't been calling, and that's kind of been a concern," Wilson said. "We're talking about my position. It's just the fact of believing him."
