'08 OH WR Trey Fairchild (Syracuse signee; transfer to EKU; transfer to Otterbein)

As a Dublin Coffman ('01) and Miami U. ('05) graduate, I know Trey would have an absolutely fantastic college experience in Oxford, OH. Miami throws the ball around a lot (I was there with Roethlisberger, so I know) and Clay Belton should be a good fit at QB for them. Trey could be used much like Miami's used Ryne Robinson the past few years.

Anyway, just thought I'd chime in. Good luck to Trey. I have a feeling, now that Adams has committed and Stoneburner seems on the verge, that Trey will get more attention. If he impresses the coaches at camp, who can say what will happen? After all, 4.3 guys don't grow on trees . . .

Thanks for the comments. Did you play for Coffman back in the day?

Miami already has loads of offers out there. They are concerned about his size (?)...he is plenty big enough IMHO.

Congrats to Trey for picking up the 'Cuse offer. Hopefully this opens up the door for some Big 10 offers.

There have been a number of great recievers at Syracuse Art Monk, Rob Moore, Marvin Harrison, Kevin Johnson etc., but the all-time receptions leader at Syracuse is fella named Scott Schwedes. Schwedes was a great KR as well. When I saw the Syracuse offer in Trey's thread, Schwedes came to mind immediately. If Trey is interested in broadcast journalism, Syracuse's Newhouse School is the best in the nation.

^^Trey will be attending tOSU's elite camp on 6/17 in hopes of impressing the staff and earning an offer.

If you arrange the 2008 Recruiting Database by 40 time, the first thing that stands out is how many 4.3-4.5 guys are on the Buckeye's radar. The second thing is how ridiculous Trey's numbers (4.36:yow1:) are even amongst the entire body of recruits. Best of luck to Trey in camp - his athletic ability should speak loudly.

Speed kills....so as long as he keeps putting up times like that he should continue to get some attention from OSU and others.

It has been enjoyable following Trey's path through the eye's of his father. It certainly makes it easy to root for him after gaining some perspective on his family, his friends, and his thoughts throughout this process.

I think all of us are hoping Trey has a great camp and picks up that offer. Of course, even with the offer in hand might decide his options are better elsewhere, but I for one would love to see him get that coveted offer; talk about validating the work and effort over the years!

The good news is he has options no matter what OSU does.

Good luck to Trey and the entire Fairchild family. I will be anxiously awaiting the results of camp. I think the OSU camp will be most telling, but don't sleep on the other visits Trey takes, you can bet the OSU staff will be getting Trey's performance data anywhere he goes. Plus you know his buddies are in the ears of the staff wrt to Trey's talents.

Trey has also become buddies with Devier Posey and very close to Mike Brewster. They have said they are also going to prop him up , just as Big Mike and his best buddy Jake Stoneburner will.

They all want him to be a Buckeye. I know that Jake and Brewster are still weighing their options, but the said IF they commit they will be all over the coaches.

I am not sure he is good enough, but camp will tell alot. I have confidence in him and he will work hard now and then. One thing he is not scared of is hard work.

Curious, has Trey ever tried working out as a defensive back? At 6'1, 4.37 forty, and seemingly good hips and burst from his highlight reel, he could garner some real attention at that position. Most NFL cornerbacks don't have that skill set let alone college cornerbacks. Although measurables are overrated oftenly..

He would like too, but our coaching staff does not play kids on both sides of the ball, so he only plays offense.
