'08 OH TE Brandon Moore (Michigan signee)

Just a reality check on needs in this class. As great an athlete as Moore clearly is and can become, is TE a true position of need now for this class? (Especially with the versatile Stoneburner in the fold).

Though we never like to see the Buckeye state's best go to TSUN you must admit they have a good record of pumping out TEs - it is as good a shot at full development as Moore might get anywhere else.

Exactly.

The future at TE for Ohio State looks more than bright with Nicol and Ballard.

Just my opinion...But we believe in the staff and their ability to judge talent...They have guys higher on the board than guys that Michigan has offered and taken from Ohio like Mealer, Moore, also they have offered a guy like Sanders...

I understand that we don't have a huge number of ships, but logically if we trust the staff and the fact they don't think these guys are better than the ones we have been able to get then we should have a better team than Michigan...

Blake Ayles, Ryan Wallace and Jake Byrne are all getting looks as more prototypical TEs...Moore was not an option. I think the staff made that very clear, despite the rumored interest lately (staff out at Trotwood watching track meets).

Here is where I disagree, Moore has better or as good of size(around 240 now) and has the frame to add alot more weight. He is also a good blocker and has the potential to be a great blocker. Just because he can stretch the field and run does not me he can't do the things a "prototypical TE" can do. Big mistake IMO by the staff here.

I agree that Moore fits more into the prototypical TE category because he is an adept blocker and already carries close to 250 lbs....which is why my point is that the staff is looking at those 3 at the more prototypical TE spot INSTEAD OF Moore. Koger will also get a look at TE should he choose to be a Buckeye...and if he should choose that I won't think twice about the staff passing on Moore. They obviously know what they are doing. If we miss on Koger then I would hope they at least offer a guy like Ayles.

From GoBlueWolverine...Brandon talks about how he committed. Says he knew he wanted to be Wolverine after his visit in April. Chose UM over offers from Georgia, Tennessee and Florida.

This article also says Wermers has committed.

Good for Moore, of the schools he had offers from he choose the one that is actually an academic institution (go figure, this from an honor student). I think scUM and Moore are a good fit on the football field and off. I hope he has a good career (except of course when we play scUM... in that case I hope he can continue Carr's tradition of losing to Tressel :tongue2:)... I'd rather "lose" Ohio kids to scUM when we didn't offer opposed to the kids we did offer... tough to build a fence around the state when the number of scholarships are down this year...

Congratulations to Brandon!

Glad to see a young man make his decision before the start of his high school season.

Its not a matter of them ever wanting to goto OSU, his parents and him felt very comfortable with the coaches up there and Florida. They felt uneasy with the coaches at Notre Dame and OSU, I know somone wil blast me for posting that, but its the truth.

The only other school they were considering was the Florida Gators. Tennessee and Georgia were a distant 3 and 4. It came down to Michigan was closer for his family to see him.

Another Trotwood-Madison teammate may be joining him very soon....
