'08 OH RB/LB Devoe Torrence (Akron signee, transfer to ??)

Canton

Younger Torrence has offer from Ohio State
Friday, February 9, 2007

CANTON TWP. When Jim Tressel looks at his football calendar, he doesn't view Jan. 1 as New Year's Day. That's the first Wednesday in February.
Signing day is the official start of the 2007 season for Ohio State coaches, and it's also the start of recruiting upcoming high school seniors. It only made sense then that DeVoe Torrence received a text message from the Buckeyes shortly after his older brother Devon faxed in a signed letter of intent Tuesday to play at OSU.
The Buckeyes sent a message to DeVoe that informed him he soon would receive a scholarship offer in the mail. The Canton South running back and linebacker will be one of Stark County's most recruited players in 2008.

Cont'd...

Fills a need

Devoe Torrence would fill a need for a bigger RB. Look at USC, they have about 6 RBs that were highly recruited. OSU doesn't have near that many as USC so we need Devoe in a big way. JT will use RBs, believe me.

If we bring in little Torrence, it will be to play LB, not RB.

I think it's too early to say whether he's a better runningback or linebacker.

No doubt he's a talent at linebacker, but keep in mind we haven't really seen much of him at runningback. Canton South ran a weird offense which didn't put the focus on runningbacks as much, but more options and plays like that.

Keep in mind he was the best offensive player on his team, and routinely ripped off 60 yard runs or catches.

I don't know if I would class him in the same area as Chris Wells, but he has the potential to be better than a guy like Broderick Green as he's a true north south runner with good speed, and surprising shiftiness.

By Bill Greene (THE man when it comes to the Torrences)... Devoe says that tOSU and Michigan are even at the top of his list with USC, ND, and MSU also in the mix. Devoe has struck up a friendship with Mike Adams and the two have talked about playing for the same school.

That sounds good since there's about a 0.00000000000000001% chance that Mike Adams is going to TSUN.
