Wow. Big dilemma. Go to the school of your dreams, and probably sit on the pine, or go to another school and play some ball. I don't know that I've got the maturity NOW, rather than at age 18. Good luck Steve with your decision. Depending on what you think your major will be, and the schools being equal in that reputation, I'd probably opt to going to another school and playing. Being on the field is the main way to show what you can do. Practice can sometimes be a predictor, but playing time is showtime......best of luck in whatever you decide.

Not sure why he'd ride the pine. The gray-shirt didn't mean automatic splinters in the tail for Boeckman.

Every underclassmen is liable to ride the bench early in their careers. Steve isn't an automatic starter at Pitt or any other school he currently has an offer from.

Any other year, and Steve likely has his offer in hand, right now. Gray-shirt doesn't limit him to bench-rider for his entire career should he accept.

Agreed. The delayed scholarship also gives him a year to get bigger and stronger to play LB in the Big 10. Boekman benefitted from the extra year of physical maturity.
