A former University of Michigan cornerback serving prison time for committing three thefts and an attempted robbery is accused of assaulting three Washtenaw County Jail employees while awaiting sentencing last month.
Boubacar Cissoko, 22, who was kicked off the team in October, was charged Friday with three counts of assault of a prison employee, Washtenaw County court records show.
Cissoko is accused of assaulting a sergeant and two officers at the county jail on Hogback Road in Pittsfield Township at 8:26 a.m. on July 31, records show.
"It's quite frankly a rare occurrence at the jail and obviously we take it seriously," Clayton said.
Cissoko was sentenced Aug. 4 by Washtenaw County Circuit Judge Archie Brown to a minimum of 19 months and maximum of 15 years in prison after being convicted of assault with intent to rob while unarmed and three counts of larceny from a person.
He admitted to stealing money from two food deliverymen in Ann Arbor and grabbing money from a cab driver in Ypsilanti on March 13, records show.
Cissoko also admitted to pointing a pellet gun at a cab driver and attempting to rob him in Ann Arbor on April 18, records show
He is currently being housed at the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center in Jackson, state Department of Corrections records show.
. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison on each felony count.
