I guess Cream must have really impressed him. Didn't even bother to visit here. Adios Amigo

I am going to go out on a limb and say that it was about PT...I mean we are bringing in guys like Offut, Crater, have Hill and also Lighty, Buford, Turner, Diebler at the 2 spot...It could of been hard for him to find minutes compared to Indiana...

Were you using sarcasm about "Cream?" Either way you're right, I think IU's lineup (or lack thereof) impressed him as much as their new Coach.

With all their graduations/defections/suspensions/expulsions (if they hold) Dumes can walk in and start from day one. At tOSU it appears he would have a tougher battle for playing time.

His experience would have been nice though.

(Darn CB40 beat me to my point, big suprise there I guess, a day (or two minutes) late and a dollar short, the story of my life )

It is always good to know that someone is on the same page as you tho...

As for the suspensions...I think those two are going to be back from the most recent reports I heard from IU fans...

I figured as much, the transgressions committed during someone else's regime are never as important as wins it seems. I would think the leash would be awful short for any of the IU players for a while though.

I think Crean will do a fine job at IU, during the Buckeye's job search, he was my hopeful second choice, right behind Matta (though having D Wade on your team sure makes your coaching better )

Decatur's Dumes to join Hoosiers

By Terry Hutchens
Posted: April 21, 2008

Devan Dumes had many scholarship offers and had planned to visit Ohio State.
But when Indiana University basketball coach Tom Crean and Indiana got involved in the recruiting process, the former Decatur Central High School and current Vincennes University player couldn't say no.

Late Saturday, after canceling his Ohio State visit and making an unofficial trip to IU, Dumes (pronounced Doom-us) gave Crean an oral commitment to play for the Hoosiers next season. The 6-2 shooting guard will sign a national letter of intent Tuesday night at a news conference at the Wheeler Boys and Girls Club in Indianapolis.
He becomes the third member of IU's Class of 2008 -- and Crean's first '08 recruit -- joining Tom Pritchard and Matt Roth. Last week, Crean received a commitment for the 2009 class from Bobby Capobianco, Loveland, Ohio.

The last word from Devan Dumes

The Indianapolis Star spoke with Devan Dumes last night after he signed his transfer papers to Indiana at the Indianapolis recreation center where he grew up playing basketball. The most interesting nugget for Buckeyes fans is deep in the story:
Dumes said if he hadn't gone to Indiana, that he would have gone to Ohio State. . . . He doesn't think there will be any hard feelings with the Buckeyes. ?I don't believe so. But who's to know now. Maybe when I get to Value City Arena it will be something different.?
Dumes had planned to visit Ohio State last weekend, but the visit was canceled. He visited Indiana instead and, before leaving campus Saturday, gave an oral commitment to new coach Tom Crean.
