'08 FL WR/DB Brandon Harris (Miami Signee)

Don't know if anyone saw it, but on CNN last night there were broadcasting from Miami and had a small segment on Brandon Harris and how football is his "ticket out of there"

They were broadcasting there in light of Sean Taylor being murdered.

Kid seemed like he really wants out of Miami, which goes against everything we keep hearing, FWIW

Booker T. breezes into final - 12/08/2007 - MiamiHerald.com

By MANNY NAVARRO

There was no ''flat line'' this time and no reasons to cry.

Booker T. Washington's football team did it Friday night -- finally.

After suffering heartbreaking losses and disappointment in the state semifinals for four consecutive seasons, BTW put all of its misery behind it once and for all. And the Tornadoes did it by sticking a dagger into its biggest nemesis, dominating Seffner Armwood 34-14 in front of 7,000 fans at Traz Powell Stadium.

''I told you last week this wasn't going to happen again. We weren't going to lose, we weren't going to flatline this time,'' said team-captain Brandon Harris, who fought back tears while hugging his father, Booker T. coach Tim Harris.

Brandon Harris credits the way he was raised by his father and mother, Chonita Harris, for his and older brother Tim Jr.'s success.

''Both my parents were hard on me and my brother to always respect adults and not talk back and always listen,'' said Harris, who is rated the No. 7 cornerback in the nation by Rivals.com. ``That was the biggest thing. We always listened to the things he taught us and that helped us stay out of trouble growing up.''

Harris has a 4.01 GPA and has qualified for college with a 20 on his ACT. Tim Jr. is a three-time All-American track star at the University of Miami. He will soon graduate with his English degree and pursue a master's degree in sports administration.

Backup comes up big for Miami Washington win -- OrlandoSentinel.com

Brandon Harris takes over for an injured Torrance Moise and the Tornadoes hang on.

Buddy Collings | Sentinel Staff Writer
December 16, 2007

Penalties were mounting, the pressure was on, and Miami Booker T. Washington was pinned at its 3-yard line in Saturday afternoon's Class 4A state football final at the Citrus Bowl.

Then quarterback Torrance Moise suffered a calf injury and had to be helped off the field with 10 minutes, 15 seconds to go.

But just when a long-sought state football championship seemed to be slipping away, the top-ranked Tornadoes turned to senior Brandon Harris for the leadership it took to complete the crusade.

Harris moved from flanker to quarterback and milked the clock with his poise and moved the chains just enough with his feet to allow Washington (14-0) to hold onto its first state title with a 23-15 victory over Ponte Vedra Beach Nease (13-2).

Harris, the son of Washington's coach, ran for three first downs to get his team out of trouble. He made two 360-degree spin moves on a 26-yard keeper that moved the ball to midfield before the Tornadoes punted it.

thanks for the updates. Sounds like Brandon had himself a good finish to the season. Gotta love a guy who plays his best games against his toughest competition. Sounds like another kid who would fit right in with the Tressel Bunch. I'm not giving up on this one yet. I still think Miami's problems are larger than they can swallow right now.
