'07 TX RB Bradley Stephens (Texas A&M Verbal)

Yeah I think he will be a camp offer, but I am more suprised at the lack of interest from other teams. We have a plethra of guys to choose from, other don't all have that option.

I don't think there is a lack of interest with this kid. He has 5 solid D1 offers on the table right now! One offer according to the paper was received over the summer before he played a game this year. The Texas board is reporting he was invited for their Jr. Day so who knows what other offers he will get. I don't think Rivals or Scout have the size thing correct either. This kid has been in Rivals and Scouts database since he was a Sophomore and his height and weight have never changed in their system. The News articles and his web site currently list him at 5'11" 190 lbs. I don't think that size will be a problem with this guy.

I just watched the films again.

I would compare his junior film to the Devon Torrence (Who tOSU has also not yet offered, and he is from Ohio) film that was floating around at some point. He definitely looks like he could be a great player in the tOSU sytsem, in the Ted Ginn mold.

One thing I noticed from his sophomore film to his junior film, is that he seemed to be playing on a lot of wet fields (as a junior), but he still showed the flashes of brilliance that you want to see in a top prospect.

With his track times and grades he should be an easy top 100 caliber player, and heavily recruited. You can put me down as someone who would be ecstatic to have him as a Buckeye!

First let me say that I hope UT gets this guy. He's had a cult following on UT recruiting boards since he was a freshman.

However, like I mentioned on the first page of this thread, south Texas has a long tradition of producing what appear to be all-world, can't miss prospects at running back who never pan out. Rivals is aware of this and so is anyone who follows Texas (the state) recruiting closely, hence the reason why his ranking might seem low.

For all I know, Stephens breaks that trend. Until then, there will be many skeptics.

Thanks for the info I didn't know this. He has offers from OK State and Texas A&M and those are his best offers. Certainly not bad offers but I just thought he would be a concensus 5 star player that all the power houses would go after but I just misjudged him I suppose. Certainly still has a shot at an OSU offer and I would agree with you Wad. Probably best to get him in at camp and evaluate our options. If he camps here and leaves without an offer I think it will be clear that he won't get one though, seeing that he is deciding before his season starts.

Yeah well I guess I thought that he would be one of those can't miss 5 star types and everyone would be after him.

I am betting the odds of him ending up at A&M are no better than 50/50. Seems like he was frustrated by the lack of early offers. If he is offered by some big time programs i.e. Texas, OSU, UM I will be suprised if TAMU can hold on to him.

We tried to prepare people for the fact that Stephens and OSU were not a good fit. In fact we talked about completely leaving him off the initial prospects list but we decided to include him at the end mainly because of the uproar there would have been from those that have been convinced for some time that he was going to end up in Columbus.

I talked to a rival program of ours

that Stephens also mentioned interest in, and he said the kid had zero ambition to leave his home state. So I always tried to tell the folks in this forum that asked that I expect him to stay in the south. Looks like my source was on the money.
