'07 PA DE Derrick Morgan (Georgia Tech signee)

Philadelphia Inquirer

Horseshoe or home. Here's an odd juxtaposition for you from Friday night's Dowingtown East-Coatesville clash.

Derrick Morgan, a 6-4, 265-pound defensive end/fullback at Coatesville, was a terror on the field on both sides of the ball.

Pat Devlin, the all-time leading passer in state history at East, is red-shirting his freshman year at Penn State and stood on the sideline as the Cougars upset the Red Raiders, 30-21.

Guess who was going to the Penn State-Ohio State game in Columbus the following day? That would be Morgan, a highly coveted recruit by both the Nittany Lions and the Buckeyes.

He is playing it very close to the vest...I think the visits will determine a lot. I still like our chances but can also see PSU starting to gain some momentum with Derrick.

Any idea where we might have him on our board. If they are planning on having him move down you would think that he would be behind Barks, Brent and maybe Still(pos??) Then you have Martin and Thomas as DE's.

Like you said, Martin and Thomas are DE's and you take both (provided Solomon's grades are in order). I think you take both Still (they like his versatility) and Morgan if they want to come in...and Barksdale would just be the icing on the cake if he decides to head to Columbus. If we get Still, Morgan and JB then Jeremiah likely gets left out. If we only get two of those, then Jeremiah may still be in line for an offer. That is my take on things from everything I have been told and/or read on my own.

The JB I assume stands for Barksdale, but where does Brent stand??

Sorry, I meant to include Brent as well...

SUMMARY:

I see the DL class ending with Martin, Thomas, Brent, Still and Jeremiah. That is just my gut feeling. I know some are going to throw a fit because I left Morgan and Barksdale off, but if we get either of them it will just make a stellar DL class all the better. If Morgan wants in, I think Jeremiah probably doesn't get an offer, although that really depends on his grades more than anything.
