'07 OH SF/PF Alex Tyus (Florida Verbal)

First of all, you should be dinged for not following BB recruiting every single day. :wink2:

Secondly, they are both great players and its a matter of what you want as a staff. I am going to go with the political answer and say both of them if you can.

According to your projection (which you are RIGHT on the money with), we still have one scholarship available for the 2007 class. We should still be able to get Tyus in this class if he would like to come on down...

2007-2008

12 scholarship players.

Jamar Butler (Sr)
Matt Terwilliger (Sr)

Othello Hunter (Sr)
Kyle Madsen (So)
Greg Oden (So)
Daequan Cook (So)
Mike Conley (So)

David Lighty (So)
Jon Diebler (Fr) (Verbal)
Dallas Lauderdale (Fr) (Verbal)
Kosta Koufos (Fr) (Verbal)
Evan Turner (Fr) (Verbal)

Ohio State currently has 1 available scholarship for the 2007 recruiting class.

Possible Targets: Alex Tyus

The timing of Turner's verbal was obviously related to Tyus' visit. I think both of them must of known it was one or the other. It is impossible to be disappointed with the news of Turner, but I was expecting it to be Tyus.

Interview with Tyus' father. His father says Tyus was disappointed when learning the last scholie went to another player. His father thinks he probably would have verbaled to tOSU on the visit. Now he is reopening his recruitment and starting from the beginning.

Note: Best of luck to Tyus, its unfortunate that these type of situations happen in the recruiting world. I am sure he will land at a major school.

Closing this thread down......

Starting Over

According to Rivals, Tyus is heating up.

Starting over

We've already mentioned in our camp coverage, the recruiting misfortune of Alex Tyus. Misfortune may very well turn to fortune, as the highly motivated and springy forward continues to play excellent basketball. He is draining mid-range jumpers, including and game winner in overtime on Friday, and he is one of the more dangerous offensive rebounders in the camp.

Tied with Walker as he second leading scorer in the camp, Tyus should have a horde of schools after him after this weekend.

From Day 3 of the ABCD camp......

Alex Tyus - #151 – Mavs - #41 Rivals.com (#12 PF)
St Louis, MO – 6’8” – 2007

Tyus wasn’t at his best today. His jumper wasn’t falling, and he didn’t seem to be as active on the boards. On offense, he has issues because he doesn’t really play with his back to the basket so when his jay is off, he doesn't have much to offer in the half court. Until he locks in one of those skills, he’s relegated to scoring only on the break or after offensive rebounds.

Would be nice to see him end up at UofI

With everyone from tOSU convince Tyus was a Buckeye
and
Everyone at UofI convinced Turner was with the Illini.

If it happens I think you can expect some comparing of the two by fans from both school.

Good luck to you Tyus.
