A runner that is arguably the most impressive of the lot at this early point is Hosea Simpson from Cincinnati Winton Woods. He has the kind of size that makes some speculate he is going to end up a fullback, but I like big backs and would first give him a shot as a running back. He has great skills, vision, explosion and surprising speed. If his grades were in order, I would likely have him top 10. It is not too late, but he has a lot of work in front of him. This is the kind of talent that some schools offer anyway, taking the chance they can get a talent that would have ened up at an Ohio State, Michigan or Notre Dame if he had taken care of business.

I disagree. I think he has pretty good wheels for someone thats listed at 225. I didnt see him get caught behind, and most of the time he still got to the endzone even though the DB has a good angle.

One thing is certain though, he will have to have a HUGE camp and/or season to get an offer from us at this point.

I was pretty impressed by his film. As the reel (and the season I would assume) progressed. he just got better and better. I LOVE to see a back that can use the power spin move that Simpson uses. He also has great balance. He always seemed to stay on his feet, and showed some burst. He ran a little stiff, but throw in a stiff arm, and you will have something special, jmo.

Hosea will make a push for the best back in Ohio next season. Believe me, he is that good. The big problem for him will not be a lack of interest from great programs, but academics. Hosea is the type of back I could see ending up at Minnesota or Michigan State, and that is still only if he gets it done in the classroom.

My friend and I used to joke that the Winton Woods Board of Education was the most worthless organization in the world for a reason. Nothing against Hosea, but I would not be surprised at all if his grades weren't where they needed to be. It is just a bad, bad school district.

I have seen Hosea play a couple of times. I like the way the kid runs. His speed is deceptive because he is decisive. He hits a hole hard and quick and keeps his line...he's not going to try to juke you...if you want to tackle him you are going to have to bring him down when he is moving at his top speed...and with his low center of gravity and his power, I have seen a few LB's and DB's get knocked into next week.

I don't know much about his grades, but I have also heard some not so good things about the WW school system. That's a shame, too...gotta keep our youth educated first and foremost!

I don't see Hosea drawing big interest from the 'power' schools because of his stature and lack of burning speed...but I think a place like UC would be a good fit for him if he can make his grades.

My Take on the film: He is going to make someone very happy. He looks like a very good hard nosed runner. Doesnt have top end speed, but can hit the hole and make good cuts. He will also deliver a blow when you try to tackle him and has a low center of gravity and his hard to bring down.

I don't envision him getting an offer from us or the midwest powers, simply b/c of the plethra of talent at rb in the midwest.
