'07 OH CB/RB Jordan Mabin (Northwestern signee)

Measured in at 5'11'' 175 @ the scout combine, so it looks he is not as short as what was being reported but he is 10 lbs. lighter.

I don't think he will wait, but if he does wait and camp @ tosu he could have a slight possibility at garnering an offer @ corner.

It's unfortunate that we might not have room to offer Mabin. I think in any other year, he would receive an offer. Who knows, hopefully he will. He's got great size and speed. (4.44 is a GREAT time for a highschool athlete) The scout combines really bring out players "true" speed. So many people are just pegged as 4.4 guys, then you look at the combine numbers, and only 2 or 3 are under 4.5. 4.44 is great for these combines, and apparently he's not short on any athleticism in winning the san antonio combine best athlete.

Having him, Evege, an Oliver in a class would be awesome. It would also leave us a possibility of utilizing guys like Torrence or Clifford ( if they become buckeyes ) as receivers.

So many good defensive backs in Ohio this year.....

I agree with you, but I still think Torrence or Saine will be on the D side if they both come aboard, along with Evege.

I think we are going to go strong after the PA duo for WR.

Talks about Mabin being the only guy being able to shut down Clemons at the Scout Combine.

I am starting to turn a little bit, it seems that he has been growing a little bit and has won the mvp at the AA combine and was impressive at the scout combine, coming in with a 4.44 40. I still think we have bigger names, and he isnt going to wait, but he could be a camp offer if he would wait that long.

If we don't offer or pursue him, I have to think he's the highest profile defensive back from Ohio that we haven't gone after. Perhaps the safety/cornerback from a few years back that went to Tennessee is up there, but you gotta think it's just a case of numbers this year.

could be a position he perfers too that the staff doesn't feel he's good enough to warrant an offer.

Adam Myers-White was ranked pretty high but obviously for some reason or not the staff does not feel he warrants an offer yet. As with 90% of recruiting we may never know.

I think you'll hear a lot of insiders say that the staff just got tired of waiting on AMW and decided to force the issue a bit. He did not want to commit so they yanked his offer.

I used to think the drawback with Mabin was his height but he is being listed as 6-0 in the most recent article. He is obviously doing something right to garner the awards he has been picking up at these combines. Like cbf40, I have turned the corner a bit on Mabin and wouldn't be opposed to him getting an offer as a DB, especially if he comes to camp and puts together another solid performance. It seems like the staff is pursuing him harder than they did the likes of Brandon Harrison or Jovani Chappel.

I love Mabin's game. The film from his HS games and the Scout combine are very impressive. Mabin is pretty physical despite his lack of size, and he's a very fast, very quick athlete. The guys over at GBW have seen Mabin, Dionte Allen, and Ronald Johnson plenty of times up-close and personal, and they always rave about Mabin any chance they get. In fact, a few of them think that Mabin maybe a better prospect at corner than Dionte Allen.
