'07 NJ OL Anthony Davis (Rutgers signee)

Sometimes the staff likes to bring in some players in for games, but it also seems like the staff likes bringing in a large number of kids after the season. Last year it was 12/2 when we had double-digit visitors and this year Hughes is already scheduled to visit on 12/1 and Brent is scheduled to visit on 12/8...the only two officials I believe that are scheduled so far.

Despite fans' perceptions to the contrary, in-season visits almost never work, at least at Ohio State. Since 2002, only three uncommitted prospects (David Patterson, Ashton Youboty, and Maurice Wells) made official visits to Columbus during the season, and then subsequently committed to Ohio State and signed with the Buckeyes (and Wells was thought to be a "silent verbal" to Ohio State at the time of his visit for The Game in 2004).

Believe it or not, the players really don't care what it's like up in the stands - as much as you might like to think they will be swayed by the atmosphere inside the stadium, the players aren't "fans", and they aren't going to make their college choices based on how loud the student section is. Post-season visits give the staff much more quality time with the players, and they give the players a much better opportunity to explore the campus and get to know the current players. Unless the prospect already has a strong leaning toward Ohio State (like Patterson, Youboty, and Wells), then I'd rather see him visit after the season.

I agree with everything LordJeffBuck said. For whatever reason, Tressel has not had much success with getting commitments from kids who visit officially during the season. I'd hope the only reason they would bring in Davis for an official during the season is if he made it clear that he plans to commit to a school before the end of the season.

I have no idea how it really works, but it seems seats are available for prospects who would like to take in a game. tOSU has a huge advanage
with the wealth of prospects with in a 5 hour drive of Cbus. It would appear
this is where we would show off our game day atmoshere.

Anthony says tOSU will get a visit and he will decide at the Army AA game if selected. He is not interested in PSU, but does speak highly of Miami...and mentions Orlando Pace as one of his idols.
