'07 IN S Jerimy Finch (Florida signee, transfer to Indiana)

Anybody else notice in that article where Finch says the coaches called him today and he talked with them over the phone and committed to them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't a dead period start at 12 AM this Sunday.
Looks like Urbie doesn't care what the rules. That's a major no-no. Hope somebody reports him.

Not to mention Florida now has 3 players committed who are eerily similair.

Major Wright, Jerimy Finch, and Lorenzo Edwards.

They can't ALL be the next Reggie Nelson can they?

The dead period started yesterday morning at 8 AM I believe...but regardless of when it started, a coach cannot directly contact a SA. The contact has to be initiated by the SA.

Finch is a heartbreaker. I'd pay good money to know what Meyer is pitching to these recruits.
He's pitching that he's a damn good coach probably. Won at BGSU, took Utah to a BCS bowl game and took a downtrodden Florida team to an MNC in his second year. I'm curious how long it will be until big time NFL $ are gonna be thrown his way.

Best of luck to Finch IU to UF is a big step up, he better be prepared for some competition though.

At some point, you have to wonder whether or not it's a waste to sign so many quality players at one position.

If they want to come to your school, might as well stock up. They're loaded pretty much everywhere in this class. 29 kids for heaven's sakes, they better be.

Wonder if they told Major that they were done recruiting safeties? Who knows.

Recruiting down South really is something else. It really is a dirty business. They just try to kill eachother down there. The kids out there don't know what the word committment means either. If they aren't sure they shouldn't commit.

My guess is they use technicalities to get around the dead periods. E-mail, text-messages, instant messaging, 3rd party back-channels. Nowadays every phone has CID so you probably also get coaches calling recruits then hanging up before the kid picks up lol.

Feb. 1, no Florida interest.
Feb. 6, commitment to Florida?
WTF

From all accounts this is a pretty good kid. He's just immature and he's had it pretty rough growing up. Not trying to make excuses for his actions, because I think it was wrong how he handled this whole process, but this isn't a kid with a stable family-life or background. I think in the end though he just made the decision he felt was best for him, and wish him good luck.

Time to move onto 2008.
